Kidz Bop and SiriusXM are teaming up to launch the radio show Kidz Bop Block Party!  The new two-hour weekly radio show is set to premiere on Kids Place Live (channel 78) on Friday, January 13 at 6p.  Kids in North America can help create the radio show playlists and segments by going online at KidzBop.com (www.kidzbop.com). The Kidz Bop Block Party debuts with a Kidz Bop Block Party! LICENSING

Innovation First International, creators of the Hexbug Micro Robotic Creatures brand, unveils its newest Bobble Bots brand and product line.  Innovation First International enters into an international licensing deal with Mind Candy, creators of Moshi Monsters, to launch a line of Bobble Bots Moshi Monsters. The new line will debut at retail in Europe and North America this spring 2012. The initial line of Bobble Bots Moshi Monsters products at launch will include 24 battery operated collectible Moshlings and a variety of configurable 3-D “dollhouse” replicas of places found online in Monstro City.  Each Bobble Bots Moshi Monsters product will include secret codes to unlock digital assets in the online world.

DHX Media and its subsidiary Wildbrain Entertainment unveil new licensing deals for the stop-motion animated preschool series Rastamouse. New Rastamouse licensees include: Trademark Collections for a range of Rastamouse bags (e.g. backpacks, rucksacks, gym bags, swim bags, holdalls, wheeled luggage, tote bags, handbags, courier bags, purses, wallets, as well as umbrellas), which will launch spring 2012; Roy Lowe & Sons signs on to develop a line of socks, tights, hats, gloves and scarves; Ty UK will develop a Ty Beanie Baby line based on Rastamouse for launch in the UK in spring 2012; also on board is GB Eye Limited for posters, digital prints, canvas prints, badges, stickers and tattoos.

Zodiak Kids’ Marathon Media inks TV, home entertainment, licensing and toy deals for Redakai, Conquer the Kairu in Australia and New Zealand. Redakai will launch on Network Ten‘s (Australia) Toasted programming block early this year, and will be followed by a DVD release in mid 2012 from Magna Home Video. Australian toy company Moose Toys will launch the Spinmaster Redakai TCG (trading card game) at specialty retailers beginning February 2012.  The full toy line, developed and owned by Spin Master, co-creator of the property, will be showcased to the toy industry at the Melbourne Toy Fair in March 2012. Stella Projects has been appointed licensing agent for the property in both Australia and New Zealand. With an apparel deal in the works, the company will work closely with all partners to develop the property. Redakai, Conquer the Kairu is a co-production between Marathon Media Studios and Spin Master.  Marathon Media hold the global TV and licensing rights excluding North America, which are held by Spin Master, along with all toy rights.

Jakks Pacific enters into an exclusive licensing deal with Marvel Entertainment to manufacture, distribute and market a new line of plush products based on Marvel Super Hero Squad, which ties into the Marvel virtual world, HeroUp.com (www.heroup.com). Under the pact, Jakks Pacific is also granted the rights to manufacture, distribute and market skill and action games based on Marvel’s classic characters. The Marvel Super Hero Squad plush line from Jakks Pacific is expected to include collectible plush, plush clip-ons and large plush with interactive, online components that unlock special features on HeroUp.com. The Jakks Marvel Super Hero Squad plush, will also allow kids to collect virtual currency, gain membership access and participate in the online trading card game. The line is slated to launch at specialty retailers in spring 2012, followed by a broader distribution in mass retail channels starting in 2013. Additionally, Jakks also is plans to launch ‘Skill & Action’ based games that encourage active, physical play based on Marvel super heroes, such as The Avengers.  The Marvel games line is set to launch in spring 2012.

Art Impressions, owner of the lifestyle brand So So Happy (www.sosohappyonline.com), has granted Commonwealth Toys the license to produce a complete line of plush toys, beanies, plush backpacks, and related products featuring So So Happy’s cast of friendly monsters, robots and other oddball characters.  The line of So So Happy plush toys are slated to roll out nationwide this May 2012 at specialty chains, boutiques, department stores, and a major nationwide toy retailer.  The So So Happy brand aims to provide and encourage positive messages to kids about individuality, being kind and respectful, and believing in yourself, among other things.

MORE KIDS STUFF

Disney XD will debut the second season of the reality-based adventure series Fort Boyard – Ultimate Challenge on Monday, January 16 at 7p.  Hosted by Geno Segers (Pair of Kings) and British TV host Laura Hamilton (Dancing On Ice), new episodes of the Fort Boyard – Ultimate Challenge will air on the network every weekday for two weeks (at 7p), culminating with finale on Friday, January 27, 2012. Based on an the classic adult targeted series Fort Boyard, the kid-aimed Fort Boyard – Ultimate Challenge was filmed on location at a 19th century sea fort off the coast of France and is produced by Zodiak Media Group’s production companies The Foundation and Adventure Line Productions.

Moonscoop announces production is set for a second season of the 2D Flash and CGI animated HD preschool series Chloe’s Closet. Moonscoop will co-produce the second season of Chloe’s Closet (52×11) with German kid’s broadcaster KI.KA and Kids Workout Factory (KWOF) in Benelux and Ireland’s Telegael. Delivery is scheduled for mid 2013. Chloe’s Closet master toy partner, Golden Bear, will launch products including collectable figurines, character playsets and accessories, small soft toys, talking soft toys and plush sets rolling out in the second half of 2012.

HIT Entertainment and BigPlay Studios, a developer of game, education, and book apps, launch the first Bob the Builder app, Bob the Builder: Muck’s Train to Trouble, for iOS devices.  Bob the Builder: Muck’s Train to Trouble is interactive an interactive reading app that also includes painting activities, video clips, and games.

EXECUTIVE MOVES

Entertainment One Family strengthens its UK licensing team with two appointments. eOne Family names Sarah Powell as its new Licensing Executive, and promotes Jennifer Roberts to Marketing Executive.  Powell will provide support and driving retail sales to further the growth and expansion of the UK licensing program.  She will report to Hannah Mungo, Head of UK Licensing.  Powell was most recently Social Media Executive for The Red Brick Road advertising agency, and prior to that for Mattel as a Licensing Assistant.  Roberts, who had been Licensing and Marketing Coordinator, will report to Marketing Manager Rebecca Harvey.
