More than 200 hours of original programming were announced at mun2‘s upfront presentation in New York, as the network revealed a line-up tailored for its young, Hispanic millennial audience. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.

New series

Viva Los Vargas, which premieres 2014, follows two-time world boxing champion Fernando Vargas, who is facing what is apparently the greatest challenge of his life: raising a family.

Stylish business partners Jackie Mateos and Liz Perez take the Los Angeles Latino real estate market by storm in Reinas de Realty, which debuts in 2014.

Horoscopos centers on Vicky and Marisol Terrazas, the lead singers of Horoscopos de Durango, following their lives on and off stage. The show premieres in 2014.

Music

Al Tiro con la Bronca features mun2 personality La Bronca adding her commentary to topics from love to fashion to conquering the opposite sex in the weekly show that debuts this month.

Premiering summer 2013, mun2Pop! features Guad and Emeraude in a one-hour, weekly original music show centering on the trends in celebrity, music, movies and television.

Special event the Premios Billboard de la Musica Latina, airs April 27.

Returning series include Larrymania (to debut in 2013), which will delve deeper into the life of Regional Mexican music superstar Larry Hernandez, and Dub Latino (to debut in 2013), a weekly magazine series revealing the car culture passions and celebrity lifestyles of the hottest names in Latino entertainment.

Rupert Murdoch’s new entertainment spinoff from News Corp., previously called the Fox Group, will be named 21st Century Fox once the split becomes official. Murdoch will serve as its chairman and CEO. 21st Century Fox includes the Fox movie and TV studios, the Fox TV network, the Fox cable TV networks (FX, FXX, FS1, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, Fox Sports, Fox Sports Network, National Geographic Channels, Fox Pan American Sports, MundoFox and STAR) as well as the Shine Group. The company feeds content through its domestic distribution operations and to its pay-television services in Europe and Asia, including Sky Deutschland, Sky Italia and its equity interests in BSkyB and Tata Sky.

E! celebrates the worlds of pop culture and music via its new series The Wanted Life, premiering Sunday, June 2 at 10:30p. Featuring the chart-topping UK band The Wanted, the show follows five UK and Irish stars, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes, as they gear up for US & European tours in hopes of continuing their success on the American charts. Following its premiere, the show moves to its regular time slot starting Sunday, June 9 at 10p.

Their dreams of having a child have finally come true. After a long and emotional journey to parenthood, Bill Klein and Dr. Jen Arnold from TLC‘s The Little Couple finally realize their dream of having a child this season, when Bill and Jen decide to pursue international adoption. The show returns Tuesday, April 30 with two new back-to- back episodes at 10 and 10:30p.

Great American Country (GAC) premieres a new series on Thursday, June 27 at 8p about a family that puts the legendary Von Trapps to shame. The Willis Clan goes behind the scenes with Toby and Brenda Willis and their 12 children, ages 2 to 21, who are accomplished singers, songwriters, multi-instrumentalists and, in the case of the older kids, internationally-ranked competitive dancers.

Marine biologist and author Carl Safina offers up a refreshing change to the usual doom-and-gloom environmental news in Saving the Ocean, a 10-part series on the World channel that focuses on people and communities around the world who are making a positive difference. The series, from Chedd-Angier Production Company, premieres Tuesday, April 23 at 8p and will roll out over five weeks with two episodes per week.

~ RETURNING SERIES ~

Investigation Discovery has ordered a third season of Dark Minds. The true-life, serial killer drama begins filming the end of this month and is set to premiere in 2014. The show is produced by Beyond Productions for Investigation Discovery.

~ CASTING NEWS ~

Hallmark Channel original series Who Let the Dogs Out is getting some serious star power. Harry Connick Jr., Nick Cannon, Gary Sinise and Mariska Hargitay all guest on the episode shot in New Orleans that airs Thursday, April 18 at 1p.

~ INTERNATIONAL HAPPENINGS ~

Universal Channel has signed a deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution that will bring Bates Motel, the drama series inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Psycho, to the U.K. The show airs on A&E in the U.S.

~ RATINGS ~

Syfy‘s Defiance became the channel’s most-watched scripted series premiere among Adults 18-49 (1.3 million) since 2006 (Eureka). Defiance also delivered Syfy’s top performance in total viewers (2.7 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.4 million), since 2009 (Warehouse 13) during its two-hour telecast on Monday, April 15 from 9-11p. While averaging a 2.0 HH rating, Defiance also averaged 479,000 Adults 18-34, the most for a scripted series premiere since 2006.

Saturday A18-49 Analysis: FOX led the rankings on Saturday among viewers A18-49 at  1.6/6, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. At 8p, FOX’s NASCAR Sprint Cup led the pack at 1.5/6, followed by CBS’ Crimetime Saturday at 0.8/3.  FOX’s NASCAR Sprint Cup continued in the top spot at 9p at 1.6/6, trailed by CBS’ 48 Hours at 0.8/3. FOX finished the night as #1 with NASCAR Sprint Cup at 1.7/6. CBS’ 48 Hours came in second at 1.2/4, followed by NBC’s SNL Prime at 1.0/3.

NBC’s The Voice followed at 0.7/2.  CBS’ 60 Minutes took over the #1 spot at 8p at 2.3/7, trailed by FOX’s The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers which combined for a 1.7/5. At 9p, FOX’s Family Guy and American Dad combined for a 2.3/6, which tied with CBS’ Amazing Race also at 2.3/6. NBC’s The Apprentice landed the top berth at 10p at 1.8/5, followed closely by CBS’ The Good Wife at 1.7/5.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

BBC has hired James Harding as Director, BBC News and Current Affairs. Harding, who will be in charge of the news organization, previously worked at News Corp.’s The Times where he was editor from 2007 to 2012 . He places Helen Boaden, who has become director of BBC Radio.

Univision Communications Inc. has named Michael McAlone as Vice President of Network Sales for the Southwest region. McAlone rejoins Univision from Telemundo’s KTMD-TV in Houston, where he was Vice President of Television Sales. He previously served as senior account executive for Univision in the Southwest region in 2011.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has hired Marc Wade for the newly-created position of Executive Producer, Digital. Wade will be responsible for the production of the Academy’s digital experiences, including the Television Academy website and related apps. Prior to joining the Television Academy, Wade spent four years as Director of Destination Web Sites for Disney Interactive.

Continental Television Sales, a division of the Katz Television Group, has promoted Tricia Donovan to Sales Manager of the Dallas Stars Team. Donovan joined Katz TV Group as a sales assistant in the Seattle office in 1997. She moved to the Dallas office in 1999 as a Sales Associate and was promoted to Account Executive on the Stars Team for Continental Television Sales.

SET, a pioneer in large-scale graphics and experience design, has appointed renowned fashion industry creative Kirsten Ludwig as its first Chief Creative Officer. Ludwig will help lead SET’s growth in New York and further build out the agency’s creative services offering.
