Good morning. It’s Tuesday, October 16, 2012, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.
FOX Sports Media Group continued to fortify its lineup, inking a deal with NASCAR in a new eight-year, multiplatform media rights agreement with the company that runs through 2022. Under terms of the new deal, FSMG will also boost up its digital rights portfolio with TV Everywhere live race streaming for its portion of the season for the first time ever beginning next season. The agreement continues to give FSMG rights to 13 consecutive NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points races beginning each year with the Daytona 500. In addition, the company keeps the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, the Daytona Shootout, the Duel at Daytona, the entire NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season and practice, qualifying for both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races that FSMG broadcasts as well as the ability to re-telecast races on a FOX network and via video-on-demand (VOD) for 24 hours.

On to baseball. FOX Sports’ coverage of the NLCS opened on a high note with a 4.1/6 household fast-national rating/share and 6.8 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
