Good morning, it’s Tuesday, May 22, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.

MTV has ordered another season of Human Giant after the network put the cast to the test to earn a second season through a live 24-hour telethon. MTV gave the cast from noon on May 18 to noon on May 19 to get 1 million hits on their website. MTV and MTV2 also gave Human Giant carte blanche during those 24 hours on-air, and after a series of stunts, music acts and comedy improv, Human Giant received 1.2 million hits from fans.

Get ready, Get set, Go! ABC will debut its seven-episode celebrity racing reality series Fast Cars & Superstars  Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race on June 7 at 8p. Twelve celebrity drivers will train with the Gillette Young Guns stock car racers to find out what it’s like to race cars. The series will conclude with an hour-long finale where the celebrity drivers will race each other. The participating celebrities include: Jewel, William Shatner, Tony Hawk, Krista Allen, rodeo performer Ty Murray, John Salley, John Elway, John Cena, Serena Williams, Gabrielle Reece, surfer Laird Hamilton and Bill Cowher. Co-hosted by ESPN anchor Kenny Mayne and former ESPN NASCAR analyst Brad Daugherty, the series is produced by Radical Media in association with Embassy Row Sports.

They say June is wedding month, and The Style Network is taking that seriously. One June 2 it will kick off its annual 21-Day Wedding Party. The month-long celebration will feature the premiere of the network’s new series I Propose on June 12 at 8p; new wedding-themed episodes of How Do I Look?, new episodes of other series such as Style Her Famous and Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?; plus a grab bag of wedding specials including Glamour’s 20 Wedding Dos and Don’ts; and the movie Honeymoon in Vegas on June 22. 

MGM TV will launch season two of Sports Action Team in syndication this fall. Sports Action Team is a half-hour original improvisational comedy series that aired last season on several NBC affiliates after the network’s Sunday night NFL games. To date, MGM TV has cleared the series on 10 NBC O&O stations, accounting for nearly 30% of the country.  Sports Action Team will also appear this fall on HDNet and have online webisodes on the NBC station group websites. MGM will additionally handle the advertising for the syndicated show and ad space for the webisodes. The series was created by Chicago-based Towers Productions in association with WMAQ/Chicago, owned by NBC. 

GSN has acquired the off-net cable rights to Show Me The Money, the limited ABC game show series with host William Shatner, distributed by Disney-ABC Domestic Television.  The game will debut on GSN on June 12, beginning with the first of seven episodes, plus two that never aired on ABC, says Hollywood Reporter.

4 Kids TV On Demand is now available in 13.5 million homes as 4Kids Entertainment, Inc. has just closed a deal to launch the network on Cox Communications and has added more Comcast digital cable subscribers. In addition, the network will also be available to Bresnan Communications subscribers by this July. Currently, 4Kids TV On Demand programs ten hours of action and adventure series with 60% of the content updated each month. Some of the series featured include Yu-Gi-Oh!, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Sonic X and more.

Lightworks Producing Group (LPG), the television production division of Lightworks Enterprises, Inc. has bought Kralyevich Productions, Inc. (KPI), producer of non-fiction and fiction series and specials for cable networks such as A&E, National Geographic Channel, History Channel, Bravo and more. Under the terms of the new organization, KPI will be a unit of LPG.

~ EXECUTIVE MOVES ~

Jennifer McIntosh has joined World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. as VP/Publicity where she will head the publicity efforts and work to gain exposure for WWE stars in national and international broadcast, print and digital media. Jennifer will also manage the promotion of WWE products that include films, books, home video releases and music releases. She will report to Geof Rochester, EVP/Marketing. In addition, WWE has hired George Cabico as Publicity Director to concentrate on promotion and placement of WWE stars and products on national and international media. He will report to Jennifer McIntosh.

Atlas Media Corp. has appointed Kaki Kirby to the position of EVP/Business Development and Cheryl Houser as EVP/Programming and both will head the company’s new theatrical film division which will focus on the production of three to five feature length documentary films each year.

Russell Maitland has been named to the new position of SVP/Advertising Sales at RHI Entertainment. Based in New York, Russell will supervise the sales efforts relating to ION Media Networks, VOD and other RHI platforms. Working with Russell are three new Account Executives: John Carlo, Stacy Gelt and Andrew Wisnewski

Disney Channel has recruited Frank Keating as VP/Marketing to handle all off-channel marketing efforts for Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Toon Disney and Jetix brands. Furthermore, Disney Channel has promoted Ron Pomerantz to VP/Creative Director where he will manage the creative direction of all on-air promotion and branding, and Veronica Davidson has been advanced to VP/On-Air Promotion, Production to supervise all on-air and graphic promotional material produced for Disney Channel, Playhouse Disney, Toon Disney and Jetix. All three executives will report to Richard Loomis, SVP/Marketing and Creative, Disney Channel U.S.

The long-time writing team of Barbara J. Esensten and James Harmon Brown will join ABC’s daytime drama All My Children as Headwriters. The team has written for such ABC soaps as Dynasty, Port Charles and One Life to Live. Most recently they were Headwriters for NBC’s Days of Our Lives.

SUNDAY – A18-49 AnalysisABC handily won Sunday night with a 4.6/13 A18-49, according to fast affiliate ratings from Nielsen Media Research. On this night, FOX came next with 3.5/10, then NBC 1.9/5, UNIV 1.6/4, CBS 1.5/4, CW 0.6/2 and TELE 0.5/1. ABC, in a night studded with finales, won at 7p with its first hour season finale of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition with 2.4/9. FOX swept in and was #1 at 8p with the 400th episode/season finale of The Simpsons at 4.5/13. Then during 9p, ABC’s season finale of Desperate Housewives bowled over the competition with 7.0/17. ABC continued in the lead through 10p with the first season finale of Brothers & Sisters at 4.7/12.
