NBC gained with the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards Sunday night as the awards event posted its biggest ratings in six years. The telecast delivered 19.7 million total viewers and a 6.4 rating among A18-49, up +28% in the demo over the previous year.
Telemundo Media will host its annual Upfront presentation May 14, 6p at Jazz in Lincoln’s Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Time Warner Center in New York City. More information on Telemundo’s Upfront presentation will be released in the coming weeks.
Exclusive to Cynopsis: Lifestyle network the Live Well Network premieres a new travel series, Sweet Retreats this Sunday at 3p. Viewers will discover where one can stay in a lighthouse or a luxury teepee and other getaway options. A new 16-part series on National Geographic Channel follows modern-day treasure hunter Sean Rich and his team when Lords of War premieres January 23 at 9p. Rich’s goal is to track down antique weaponry and rare war collectibles and auction them off to the highest bidder. Bray Entertainment produces the series for NGC.
Beginning this fall NBC News/MSNBC’s Tamron Hall will host a new 13-part series on Investigation Discovery called Deadline: Crime with Tamron Hall. The hour-long series goes beyond story headlines involving murder to find out what happened, why the deadly crime occurred and how it was investigated. Investigative journalist Hall leads viewers through each case in this series produced by NBC News’ Peacock Productions.
Starting this Wednesday VH1 is moving its new reality matchmaking series Making Mr. Right to Wednesdays at 10p. The series watches how far three women will go to find true love while working with expert matchmaker April Beyer. High Noon Entertainment is behind the series.
Daytime show Home & Family airing on Hallmark Channel weekdays has named Cristina Ferrare as its permanent co-host working with Mark Steines. Ferrare joined the show as a temporary co-host in November when former co-host Paige Davis exited the show.
Showtime’s season premieres of Shameless, House of Lies and Californication Sunday night delivered double digit increases for all three shows over prior seasons. Shameless bowed its third season at 9p with 2.0 million total viewers, up +46% over the series’ season two average (1.36 million). The second season launch of House of Lies at 10p attracted 1.19 million viewers, up +43% over its first season average of 830,000. Then at 1030p, Californication opened its sixth season with 1.07 million total viewers, a bump of +48% versus the season five average of 722,000.
The second season debut of Wicked Tuna on National Geographic Channel Sunday posted a 0.4 rating with A25-54 and 391,000 viewers in the demo as well as 775,000 total viewers, based on Nielsen Fast National, Live + SD.
Also from Sunday, E! reported its Live From the Red Carpet 2013 Golden Globes show airing from 6-8p delivered a nine year high at close to 2.0 million total viewers. The telecast was up +12% in total viewers and +22% with W18-34.

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. and The Warner Bros. Television Group have confirmed licensing agreements with Netflix in the US. Netflix members will have access to complete previous seasons of animated and live-action content from Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation and Adult Swim in addition to TNT’s drama series Dallas which is produced by Warner Horizon Television. Starting March 30, 2013, complete past season of Cartoon Network’s shows Adventure Time, Ben 101, Regular Show, Johnny Bravo along with Warner Bros. Animation’s Green Lantern will be available through the Just for Kids section of Netflix. Also at the same time, such Adult Swim shows as Robot Chicken, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sony Pictures Television’s The Boondocks and Childrens Hospital from WBTVG’s Studio 2.0 will be made available. Starting in January 2014, Netflix will have exclusive access to seasons one and two of TNT’s Dallas series.
NUVOtv and AT&T U-verse renewed their carriage agreement long-term. The deal gives AT&T U-verse customers continued access to NUVOtv, an English-language TV network targeting today’s Latino audience. NUVOtv is part of the U-verse TV U200 package. The deal also covers AT&T U-verse launching NUVOtv’s hi-def channel.

AMC’s The Walking Dead has a new showrunner. Executive producer Scott Gimple takes over the role as the show’s third showrunner when the series commences production later this year on season four. He replaces Glen Mazzara who served as showrunner for the third season.
Friday A18-49 Analysis: Univision was the champ Friday night scoring a 1.8/5 among A18-49, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. CBS’ Undercover Boss was in the limelight at 8p with a 1.8/6 and Univision’s Por Ella Soy Eva was a close second at 1.7/5. During 9p, ABC’s Shark Tank and Univision’s Amores Verdaderos tied for #1 at 2.0/6 apiece and CBS’ CSI: NY ranked third at 1.6/5. Then at 10p, a three-way tie occurred for first place between CBS’ Blue Bloods, NBC’s Dateline and Univision’s Amor Bravio at 1.6/5 each and ABC’s 20/20 came in fourth at 1.5/4.

Jared DiPalma moves up to the newly-created position of CFO at NBCUniversal Entertainment & Digital Networks and Integrated Media (E&DN/IM). Jared supervises all financial operations for NBCUniversal encompassing Bravo Media, Oxygen Media, Style, Sprout, Telemundo Media, mun2 and TV One as well as the digital properties DailyCandy and Fandango. Jared reports to Lauren Zalaznick, Chairman of the division. Prior to this promotion, Jared has been SVP/Finance for E&DN/IM since June 2011.
Participant Media revealed three additional executives charged with overseeing the summer 2013 launch of a yet-to-be-named cable network targeting millennials. John Arianas will serve as EVP/Advertising Sales and Partnerships; Stephanie Ruyle was named EVP/Content Distribution and Affiliate Partnerships; and Karen Ramspacher was appointed as SVP/Research and Insights. All three executives will be based at the network’s corporate offices in New York and report to Participant Television President Evan Shapiro.
Univision Communications has established the Univision Agency, a new centralized team to oversee its $500 million media inventory across all of Univision’s broadcast, cable and radio properties. The Univision Agency will handle all cross-channel promotions in addition to research and creative services for clients and internal divisions. Heading the Univision Agency is Joni Fernandez who was promoted to SVP. Joni reports to Jessica Rodriguez, EVP/Program Scheduling and Promotions, the person spearheading the Univision Agency over the past several months.
Effective immediately, Colin Moore was elevated to VP/Digital Media and Alternative Content at IFC, up from Director. Colin is in charge of extending the network’s digital strategy as well as overseeing operations for IFC.com, mobile apps and partner website that showcases IFC content. Based in New York, Colin reports to Blake Callaway, SVP/Marketing.
Former ABC News reporter and CBS News correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi joins 60 Minutes Sports as a Contributor. 60 Minutes Sports is a new sports magazine show on SHOWTIME.
