The game was bought by Marx toys in 1964, and then by Tyco, which was ultimately acquired by Mattel. Sold in the US and in the UK, the version abroad is called Raving Bonkers. The game has also become an electronic game, available on a few different platforms. What classic game is this? ROCK ‘EM SOCK ‘EM ROBOTS Kudos to: Ed Dall’Aste-UPROAR! Today’s Trivia Question: Invented by George Lerner in 1949 and marketed by Hasbro in 1952, this is the first toy ever to be advertised on television on April 30, 1953. The toy was originally distributed in cereal boxes, because Lerner couldn’t convince any major toy manufacturers to sell the toy in stores. Hasbro saw it, and paid the cereal company to stop distributing, and it went into wide production selling to the US market for the first time on May 1, 1952. and cost a mere 98 cents. The main part of the toy however, was supplied by parents out of their own cupboards. What toy is this? (Email [email protected] with your answer and be sure to include your name, company, city and time zone. Unofficial rules: Only the second four correct answers from each time zone will be mentioned; and once you’ve been mentioned in any of the Cynopsis editions, you can’t be mentioned again that calendar week.)
