~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

Timed to air in tandem with the season finale of PBS’ Downton Abbey this weekend, Plum TV presents a new reality series, Weekend Aristocrats, that follows cash-strapped British owners of stately homes who must open their doors to American tourists as overnight guests in order to pay their bills. The six-part series debuts episodes 1 and 2 this Sunday on Plum TV at 8p and 9p. Produced by Landmark Films for Sky Atlantic and distributed by Passion, the show will also be available on Hulu and Hulu Plus as of February 18.

DIY Network introduces Rescue My Renovation on Wednesday, February 27 at 9p.  The half-hour series, hosted by contractor John DeSilvia, documents the even messier side of home renovation – when the money runs out and when contractors cause damage. 

A new series on Discovery en Espanol spotlights the four inventions that define the modern era: cell phones, cars, airplanes and skyscrapers when Como Inventamos El Mundo (How We Invented the World) premieres Sunday, February 24 at 7p.  Each of the four episodes examines the people and events that led to their development. 

REELZCHANNEL’s four-part miniseries Ring of Fire starring Terry O’Quinn opens Monday, March 11 at 8p; season two of Bomb Girls starring Meg Tilly premieres Wednesday, March 27 with two back-to-back episodes at 8p & 9p; the second season of XIII.2 debuts on Friday, March 29 at 10p; and Treat Williams leads the miniseries cast of Eve of Destruction premiering on Monday, April 15 at 8p.

Next Monday, Mnet America, the English-language TV network for fans of Asian pop culture debuts the coming-of-age drama REPLY 1997 at 8p. 

KSL Media, the second largest independent media services agency in the US is now working with WellPet, the natural pet food and treats company. KSL also handles media business for PetSmart, Roche Diagnostics Corporation and Frontier Communications. 

~ RETURNING SERIES ~

Original primetime series American Greed makes a seventh season comeback on CNBC on a new night, beginning Thursday, February 21 at 10p for 13 episodes.  Stacy Keach narrates the series, which is produced exclusively for CNBC by Kurtis Productions.

truTV ordered a 15th season of truTV Presents: World’s Dumbest… and the new eight-episode season is set to launch Thursday, February 28 at 10p.  Expect appearances by veteran commentators Danny Bonaduce, Todd Bridges and Leif Garrett as well as  comics Chelsea Peretti, Jared Logan, Rachel Feinstein, Chris Fairbanks and Brendon Walsh.  In its 14th season, World’s Dumbest… averaged 1.1 million viewers, up +7% in the prior season.  The series is produced by Meetinghouse Productions.

~ DISTRIBUTION, CARRIAGE & CLEARANCE ~

CBS Corporation and Amazon.com, Inc. have expanded their content licensing agreement to bring classic series and other hit TV shows from CBS Television Distribution and Showtime Networks to Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service. Extending the current CBS content available to Prime members to instantly stream shows at no additional cost, titles include America’s Next Top Model, Everybody Loves Raymond, Jericho, The L Word, Undercover Boss and the United States of Tara

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

ABC Family picked up two reality series, Dancing Fools hosted by Melissa Peterman (Baby Daddy) and the docu-soap The Vineyard (wt).  Dancing Fools is a half-hour unscripted comedy produced by the Gurin Company with Phil Gurin as creator/EP. The Vineyard is a coming-of-age docu-soap about Martha’s Vineyard-hanging 20-somethings. The series is produced by 25/7 Productions with Dave Broome and Brian Smith as EPs.  Production on both series kicks off this spring.
Bounty hunters Duane “Dog” and Beth Chapman are back on TV in an untitled 10-episode reality series slated to premiere on CMT this April.  Fans will help name the new series by submitting ideas on the show’s Facebook page by this Saturday. Beth Chapman will tweet the new title at @MrsdogC on Tuesday, February 19. The series was created through the Chapmans’ production company, Entertainment By Bonnie and Clyde; Electus’ Ben Silverman, Chris Grant and Jimmy Fox are also executive producing. 

Ryan Seacrest won’t stop working: now he’s producing a new six-episode unscripted dancing series tentatively titled Montecito for A&E Network, reports THR.  The one-hour docu-series takes place in the tony California enclave, home to wealthy women and their ballroom dance instructors. Ryan Seacrest Productions is producing with RSP’s CEO Adam Sher and Seacrest serving as EPs along with Generate’s Jordan Levin, Robert B. Levin and Hilda Keenan Wynn

Fox Television Studios is partnering with writers/producer-directors Chris Weitz and Paul Weitz on a new series Reamde (pronounced reem-dee) based on the novel Neal Stephenson of the same name. Fox Television Studios currently produces the TV series Burn Notice, White Collar and the upcoming Graceland all for USA Network along with FX’s new series The Americans.

Los Angeles-based Media Meld Studios will produce the pilot LogHeads for DIY Network.  LogHeads features Tommy and Gwen Mitchell, owners of Rocky Top Log Furniture and Railing.  The pilot is set to air on DIY this summer.

Former American Horror Story star Dylan McDermott will co-lead CBS’ new Jerry Bruckheimer-produced drama pilot, Hostages. Opposite Toni Collette, McDermott will play Duncan, a righteous FBI agent at the center of a political conspiracy.

~ RATINGS ~

Tuesday’s State of the Union Address drew 18.7 million total viewers across ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX.  Compared to President Obama’s 2012 SOTU, the 2013 address was down on average by 27%.  On the cable news side, FOX News pulled in 3.683 million total viewers just ahead of CNN’s 3.635 million viewers and MSNBC was third with 3.034 million total viewers. 

BET reports its sixth annual BET Honors telecast was seen by nearly 2 million viewers Monday night at 9p.

Tuesday A18-49 Analysis:  Univision led Tuesday among the A18-49 viewers with a 1.8/5, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen.  At 8p, Univision’s Por Ella Soy Eva won with a 1.7/5 while ABC’s The Taste and CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles encore tied for #2 at 1.5/4 each.  During 9p, most broadcast networks aired live the State of the Union Address with no ratings data available though Univision topped with Amores Verdaderos at 2.0/5 and Telemundo’s La Patrona was next at 0.7/2.  Same story at 10p as Univision won the hour with Amor Bravio at 1.7/5 and ION placed second with Criminal Minds at 0.7/2.

Participant Media appointed Holly Hines as SVP/Scripted Programming for the company’s yet-to-be-named cable television network for millennials that launches this summer.  Hines will head all scripted development and production

Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness named Kathy Delaney as CCO, where she will continue to work on new campaigns and platforms.  She will also take on the title of Global Chief Creative Officer of the Saatchi & Saatchi Health network. 

Executive recruitment company Cheyenne Group tapped Bill Cella as a Senior Partner with the firm. He will help run the New York office as well as the new London branch, which opens later this year.
