Kicking off the New Year, Animal Planet opens a sophomore season of Finding Bigfoot on January 1 at 10p.  The new season follows four passionate Bigfoot researchers and adventurers who are members of the Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO) as they search from small towns in the South to remote areas in the mountainous West to the Northeast and even into Canada to find evidence of Bigfoot’s existence.  The second season consists of ten one-hour episodes produced by Ping Pong Productions for Animal Planet.

A fifth season of The Game is set to debut on BET starting January 10 at 10p.  The Game, starring Tia Mowry-Hardrict as the wife of a football star, aired for three seasons on The CW before it was acquired by BET.  The fourth season on BET opened last January with 7.7 million total viewers for its premiere episode and ended with 4.4 million total viewers for its season finale in March.

Lifetime ordered an additional ten episodes of its drama series Army Wives for its sixth season.  This will take the sixth season to a total of 23 episodes.  Production is presently underway though it is not clear yet if these ten new episodes will run concurrently with the original 13 ordered eps or run separately.

Beginning December 10, BBC America will air episodes of The Graham Norton Show within 24 hours of their UK premiere, reports THR.  Before this, episodes of the talk show would air on Friday nights via BBC One in the UK and then debut eight days later in the US on the following Saturday.  BBC America has done something similar to this same-day episode premiere pattern with Doctor Who eps during the series’ sixth season.  Produced by SO Television, The Graham Norton Show recently began its tenth season in October.

REELZCHANNEL signed Steven Seagal to star in the network’s first original scripted drama series True Justice.  Produced by Sojo Productions and Voltage Pictures in association with Steamroller Productions, the series is slated to premiere in March 2012.  Seagal will star as Elijah Kane, the leader of a tough undercover team of Seattle cops who take on local criminals with a high-energy style of law enforcement.  Kane and his team battle gangs, drug lords and crime syndicates.  Seagal will also serve as an executive producer along with Nicolas Chartier and Phillip B. Goldfine; Keoni Waxman is the co-executive producer and director.

Filmmaker Michael Mailer, actor Michael Della Femina and executive producer John Friedman are partnering to develop a new comedy television series titled Crime Lords of Sullivan Street.  The project is a partnership with Michael Mailer Films and Della Femina’s StoreFront Digital company.  The series is described as part Goodfellas and part Curb Your Enthusiasm.  Production will happen in New York with both Della Femina and Mailer having roles in the series.  The series will also sport a number of top creative talents in guest appearances.
