WE tv is betting that the wedding craze will bear one more program when it premieres its original series Bride vs. Bride on August 6 at 9p. This show will air on Sundays during WE’s Wild Wedding Night between Platinum Weddings at 8p and Bridezillas at 10p. Hosted by Evan Farmer, Bride vs. Bride has two families competing against each other in wedding-themed stunts, such as the Appetizer Obstacle Course or the Balloon Bouquet Toss, to win cash and prizes for the bride’s upcoming wedding day. The six-episode one-hour series is produced by North South Productions.
Logo picked up original reality series Jacob & Joshua: Nemesis Rising. The series follows Curb Records recording artists Jacob and Joshua Miller, identical twin brothers from Montana, who are the pop/rock group Nemesis. Currently in production, the show is set to premiere on October 16 at 10p. It follows the twins as they attempt to make it in the music industry and, at the same time, come out publicly about their sexual orientation. Complementing the series will be digital, wireless and online features, including episode availability on download-to-own services and interviews, diaries and other behind-the-scenes videos at LOGOonline.com. In addition, the series’ first episode will be made available via streaming video at LOGOonline.com for free.
Court TV has made a new VOD pact with Time Warner Cable to air a preview episode of the new season of Parco PI before its premiere on the network. The show can be accessed now through Time Warner Cable Free on Demand and is available through August 31. The VOD sequence will contain exclusive footage of interviews with the character, a making of the series segment and interviews with the cast and crew.
mtvU, the 24-hour college network that is part of Viacom Inc.’s MTV Networks, will purchase Y2M: Youth Media & Marketing Networks, which is the parent company to College Publisher, America’s largest interactive collection of online college newspapers. More than 5 million students are reached with the 450 online campus journals, which contain local news, sports, events, weather and more. By combining these two entities, the goal will be to grow the multi-platform offerings and give advertisers many more ways to reach elusive college students: on-air, online, via handsets, in print and on campus.
Fox has added two new drama projects to its development slate, per Hollywood Reporter. The first is called Amy After Dark is about an attorney by day/vampire by night, written by John Scott Shepherd. And the other is an untitled cop drama where the key guy has something of a Dorian Grey thing happening – he may look you, but he’s really wicked old. This one is penned by Christian Taylor.
Katie Couric’s CBS Evening News is about to get a Titanic-like musical change. James Horner, who composed the music to Titanic, Apollo 13, Braveheart and others, and has won a few Oscars for his music, will be composing the new music behind the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric. The music will eventually migrate to all of the CBS News programs. The new music, along with a brand new set, with both be set for the September 5 arrival of Couric.
George Lopez and Delfino Entertainment will produce an animated comedy project called Eddie & the Squid about two Latino brothers, and pitch the project to Fox as potentially part of the network’s Sunday night animated scheduled. According to Variety, Delfino’s new animation unit was set up to create the project, and they will be using new technology that allows them to produce an animated 30m show in just 8 weeks.
Sean Murtagh is the new VP/Finance & Accounting for Court TV. 1492-Christopher Columbus sets sail from the Spanish port of Palos. His small fleet, which sighted land in the Bahamas on October 12, was the first European expedition to travel to the Americas since the Norse settlers of the tenth and eleventh centuries. Columbus returned to Spain in March of the following year and would command a total of four expeditions to the New World, which he never doubted was the Far East.
