ABC Family dropped pilot Alice in Arabia, about an American teen kidnapped by family and taken to Saudi Arabia, after the Council on American-Islamic Relations expressed concern that the show could perpetuate negative stereotypes. "The current conversation surrounding our pilot was not what we had envisioned and is certainly not conducive to the creative process," said a net rep on Friday, "so we’ve decided not to move forward with the project."
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings doesn’t sound too happy about the prospect of more deals like the one the streaming service cut with Comcast in February for direct access to its network servers. "While in the short term Netflix will in cases reluctantly pay large ISPs to ensure a high quality member experience," says Hastings, "we will continue to fight for the Internet the world needs and deserves."

The spring finale of ABC Family‘s The Fosters, about a lesbian couple raising five children (one biological, two adopted, two fostered), airs tonight at 9p. And it focuses on challenges any family might face. "Raising kids," says Johnson, "is a great equalizer."

"Not doing your homework on our brand and coming in ill-prepared," says Lynn LaRocca, SVP of marketing and advertising at Modell’s Sporting Goods. In an April 8 webinar, LaRocca, along with network and agency experts, will offer more insights into the secrets of the perfect pitch.
NBCUniversal is partnering with Lowe’s and Zillow on home transformation competition American Home Builders, which premiered Sunday at 8p.
