~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~

In contrast to NBC News‘ territorial policies regarding broadband usage of its debate coverage, CNN announced it would lift copyright restrictions on the video coverage CNN, Hearst-Argyle’s WMUR-TV and the New Hampshire Union Leader provide for the next round of debates on June 3 and June 5. Sen. Barack Obama suggested last week media outlets waive restrictions so that the content can be shared openly online. Meanwhile, MSNBC.com has decided to archive the entire Republican debate and make it available throughout the campaign.

Update from CABLE SHOW 2007 aka The National Show aka NCTA:

Several cable networks have made announcements from NCTA about show renewals, special summer programming stunts and more. Here are the briefings:

  • Oxygen has renewed the original reality series Tori & Dean: Inn Love for a second season. The 10-episode series will debut in third quarter this year and will focus on the pair juggling a new baby, two careers and a successful B&B business.
  • The Weather Channel will offer three exclusive series shot and presented in high definition: Weather Ventures produced by Horizon Entertainment will take viewers to such destinations as Catalina Island and the Everglades; When Weather Makes History, produced in an agreement with Tower Productions, will explore how weather changed the outcome of famous historical events; and new episodes of Epic Conditions from Warren Miller Productions will air starting in fourth quarter. In addition, TWC will now present its live studio programs in HD.
  • LIME, the multimedia brand focused on green living, will introduce an original animated webisode series starting today on its broadband channel called Ms. Rabble, featuring the voice of former Saturday Night Live player Victoria Jackson. Ms. Rabble, produced by animator Frank Chindamo of Fun Little Movies, will debut on LIME’s other digital platforms over the next few months. Also this month, LIME is featuring a tent-pole stunt called “Ditch It” with alternative tips on spring cleaning for the home, body and mind.
  • Military Channel will debut two programming events this summer: Best Ranger 2007 on June 17 at 10p will go behind the scenes of the U.S. Army’s Best Ranger Competition; and the five-part series New Technology of War will air on consecutive Sundays from July 1 through July 29 and will examine the latest combat tools.
  • The Science Channel has acquired the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon from HBO and will air it beginning May 15 at 9p.

TV One’s subscriber household base is now up to 37.9 million as of this month. The three-year-old network targeting African American adults has added four million new household this year with launches in several areas including Bright House Networks in Indianapolis; Time Warner Cable of Northeastern Ohio in Akron; and on Comcast systems in Minneapolis and West Palm Beach, and a move from digital to expanded basic on Comcast in Shreveport. TV One also offers some of its programming via VOD reaching more than 20 million households on Comcast, Time Warner, Cox and Insight cable systems, and in the near future on Buckeye Cable of Ohio.

RCN Corporation, triple provider of cable, high-speed internet and phone services, will now offer SportsNet New York (SNY), the regional sports network home of New York Mets and New York Jets, in high definition.
