~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~
Another video-sharing website is planning a spin-off to television as No Good TV (NGTV) will vie for a latenight slot as the edgy show is shopped to networks in the next few weeks. Robert Morton, formerly of Late Show With David Letterman will executive produce the project, and is collaborating with production entities Endeavor and 3 Arts Entertainment. Kourosh Taj, Co-President in charge of programming at NGTV and Dave Becky of 3 Arts will also executive produce. NGTV.com, with the tagline “Putting the F-U back in fun” is known for its uncensored celebrity interviews and has seen its popularity rise as recent clips on YouTube have received more than 62 million views. The TV show, hosted by NGTV’s Carrie Keagan, will stay true to the website and feature raw celebrity interviews, music, sketch comedy and CG animation.
HBO renewed the musical-comedy series Flight of the Conchords for a second season. The number of new episodes for the half-hour series has not been determined. Additionally, HBO ordered the fifth season renewal of the comedy series Entourage, the pay network’s second longest-running show.
MTV’s premiere of Newport Harbor: The Real Orange County last Wednesday night (1030p) averaged more than 1.7 million total viewers and was #1 in its time period among P12-34 across all of television.
So you say you’re a fan of MTV’s hidden camera series Punk’d? Then the good news is the show is headed into syndication with distributor Trifecta Entertainment & Media, who will offer Punk’d as a weekly for the 2008-09 season, with a total of 22 off-net episodes. Per Variety, Trifecta will sell the show on a straight barter basis, retaining 3-1/2 for national ad sales. Trifecta will also handle the national ad sales.
