* MORE GOOD STUFF *TV One has made a slew of new acquisitions and will launch their new early fringe schedule on October 3rd.  The acquisitions include a couple of off net series, a syndicated series and a movie package – all from NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.  Starting daily at 5pm is TV One’s second season of Starting Over.  At 6p will be off-net series Amen paired up with 227.  Airing daily Monday-Thursday is the off-net series NY Undercover at 6p. And finally, a movie package that includes Ghost Dad, The Wiz, Brewster’s Millions, Crooklyn and Cry Freedom.  TV One launched in January 2004 and now is available in 22 million cable and satellite households.

Next month PBS will launch a new series in conjunction with National Geographic called Wild Chronicles, providing weekly stories with a global perspective on the wonders and the challenges of our world.  In the 42 episodes, segments will include news, scientific revelations, human exploration and adventure. The half hour magazine format series is hosted by Boyd Matson.  Others working in collaboration with PBS and National Geographic on this project are the World Wildlife Fund, Lindblad Expeditions and WLIW New York.

So there you are, hanging around on October 3rd waiting for the WB’s new series Just Legal to start at 9p. The phone rings at 8:55p and it’s your daughter calling to discuss the wedding plans.  Clearly you can’t cut her off just to watch TV, so you muddle thru trying to sound chipper, all the while knowing you’ve just missed the show you’ve adopted as your new favorite Monday night program. Well, good news for you!  TNT will re-air the episode at 10p that evening, following an airing of Law & Order. This is a one time only event, so next time you’ll want to be better prepared with your Tivo, or take the phone off the hook.

Kids’ WB! Fall 2005-2006 Saturday and weekday schedule gets underway tomorrow with three new series from Warner Bros. Animation – Coconut Fred’s Fruit Salad Island, Loonatics Unleashed and Johnny Test.  Joining the M-F Kids’ WB block this season is the animated series Transformers: Cybertron.  Later this fall another new series Viewtiful Joe will debut on Kids’ WB.  Here are the lineups:

 * NEW ORDERS / CASTING / DEVELOPMENT / PRODUCTION *The two behind the hit Fox series House, Paul Attanasio and Katie Jacobs, have signed a 2 year development deal with Fox Broadcasting, giving the studio first dibs on any new projects from the pair and their prod. company, Heel and Toe Films. According to Variety, this deal is engineered to give the duo as much leeway as necessary to protect the future of House and not over-tax them to create new projects.  Additionally, it is suspected that any new projects moved to the pilot phase they do come up with for Fox will carry a significant penalty if the project does not go to series.

The U.K.’s ALL3MEDIA International’s Cash Cab game show is coming to the US. The show creator’s US arm, Lion Television USA has sold the format to the Discovery Channel.  Forty new eps will be produced in New York in the well-recognized NYC yellow cab with a debut airing date scheduled for this fall.  How does the game work?  Unwitting participants hail the ordinary-looking cab, and soon realize they are being quizzed by the cabbie on general knowledge.  They receive cash for every correct answer. If stumped by a question, the person can reach out to others such as the person walking on the sidewalk.  Watch out…3 wrong answers and he kicks you out of the cab.

Two projects currently in development at Showtime, Filthy Gorgeous and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, have cast leading roles. According to Variety, Isabella Rossellini will play the owner of the escort business in Filthy Gorgeous.  And in Emily Rose, Jennifer Carpenter will play opposite Michael Hall.  Carpenter plays Hall’s sister.  He is a forensic expert by day, and a serial killer by night.

* EXECUTIVE MOVES *Rhonda Troutman has been named SVP/CBS UPN Affiliate Relations, reporting to Peter Schruth, President of the division. Rhonda will now be involved in all operational aspects of the organization.

Colleen Fahey Rush has been appointed EVP/Research, MTV Networks.  She oversees MTV Networks Research at the divisional level and coordinating all cross-channel or cross-audience research initiatives.  She will also continue to manage the Research teams at VH1 and CMT.  Colleen will report directly to Herb Scannell, Vice Chairman/MTVN and Betsy Frank, EVP/Research & Planning, Viacom Cable Networks, Film & Publishing.

* RATINGS *Wednesday — A18-49 Analysis:  According to fast affiliate numbers from Nielsen Media Research, Fox led the charge on Wednesday posting an overall 2.7/8 A18-49 rating.  NBC delivered a 2.6/7, ABC and CBS 2.5/7, UPN 1.1/3, WB 0.7/2. At 8p Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance won the hour with a 3.0/9. It’s closest competitor was NBC Most Outrageous TV Moments with a 2.3/7.  The premiere of Head Cases on Fox at 9p slipped to #4 in the rankings with a 2.4/6.  CBS’ Rock Star: INXS won the hour with a 3.2/9, followed by Law & Order CI on NBC, and the first of the two-hour Lost repeat on ABC. At 10p, all the Big Three nets were in a dead tie, each delivering an 8 share.

Friday Fun Fact:
In one year, the average human heart circulates from 770,000 to 1.6 million gallons of blood through the body. This is enough fluid to fill 200 tank cars, each with a capacity of 8,000 gallons.

The History Channel presents This Day in History:
1620-The Mayflower sails from Plymouth, England.  The 102 passengers were ostensibly bound for Virginia, but landed well beyond the bounds of the Virginia Company, in the region John Smith named “New England.”  Fewer than half the passengers were pursuing religious freedom.  The rest, like the financial backers of the venture, hoped to make a profit in the New World.  In the first year, half the settlers died of disease, but the small settlement survived and eventually became self-sufficient, although never wildly profitable.
