Given the times, WGA writers are utilizing the web to plead their case about the strike. A video ostensibly shot from outside of the set of The Office is making the rounds in which showrunner Greg Daniels outlines the issue of payment for digital “promotions” done for the web. (The Office shut down this week after star Steve Carell refused to cross the picket line.) Greg directs viewers to unitedhollywood.blogspot.com for more on the issues, a blog started by a group of strike captains. Another good one is Writers Strike. Yesterday’s posting with Emmy winner Ken Levine discusses the media’s uneven coverage of the event.
Clarification: Yesterday’s website of the day entry referred to writer Gabe Abelson as a speechwriter for the Clintons. He actually wrote jokes and sketches for Hillary’s 50th Birthday Party/Senate fundraiser.
