Netflix and Disney announced a deal for Marvel to develop four live-action series featuring Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage in association with ABC Television Studios. The agreement calls for a minimum of four 13-ep series to air exclusively on Netflix beginning in 2015, leading up to a miniseries programming event. Disney purchased Marvel in 2009 and already has content from the brand on its own outlets, including Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC.
Twitter’s IPO took off with a whopping $45.10 stock opener yesterday, which valued the company at more than $31 billion, or 73 percent above the original price. The highest the stock soared to was $50.09, but it continued to level out throughout the day to end at $44.90. USA reports Twitter had orders for at least ten times the total shares that were sold.
Worth Noting: Facebook’s IPO was priced at $38 last year, and closed not too far above this price at the end of its first trading day.
TV guide app, i.TV, announced the acquisition of GetGlue, which will bring 4.5 million registered users to its second-screen check-in TV service. Variety reports the deal was worth around $24 million, and GetGlue’s CEO Alix Iskold will leave the company. iTV is behind Nintendo TVii and social TV platforms for Entertainment Weekly, AOL and The Huffington Post.
International multi-channel network Base79 struck a deal with UK’s Insanity Talent Management to help build a new YouTube channel called Insanity Network. Insanity has some big YouTube names in its ranks, such as musicians Lunar C, who has with 12,000 subscribers and Mike Hough, with 60,000.

Cynopsis has already reported that Facebook is revamping its “like” button; but now FB is testing out a star rating system, too. TechCrunch reported the social site has been collecting ratings on local searches for a while, but now Facebook’s business, place and fan pages will carry it as well.
Worth Noting: The move means that FB will be able to compete more directly with business search sites like Yelp.
NBC News unveiled a new multi-media interactive component for its 50th anniversary coverage of JFK’s assassination. The six-hour video experiences brings viewers into Tom Brokaw’s interviews, features the new documentary Where Were You: The Day JFK Died, and users can scroll through 275 videos of NBC archive footage. “Our goal was to make this video experience inviting and addictive,” Vice President of News, Product and Executive Editor of NBC News Digital Gregory Gittrich told Cynopsis.
Digital women’s brand DailyCandy is hosting the first ever DailyCandy Bazaar to feature editors’ favorite products, as well as the “Best of” local businesses voted for by the public on DailyCandy.com/Bazaar. The bazaar will go live in NYC today to Nov. 10.

L’Oreal USA announced that DigitasLBi will be its new digital media planning and buying partner. L’Oreal replaced Publicis Group’s Moxie Interactive. Ad Age says the deal was driven by Digitas’ current deals with major players like Walmart and Google.
Country Music Television premiered its first TV Everywhere video app for iPhone and iPads yesterday, which contains the pre-release of the first episodes from the latest season of Sweet Home Alabama. Other full CMT episodes and seasons will also be available to stream on the app as well as a social media feature that filters the best tweets and Facebook conversations from other fans.
Sony unveiled the PlayStation 4 entertainment app line-up yesterday. The list included Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Sony’s Music and Video Unlimited services and of course its own digital network, Crackle. The new console will be available to purchase on Nov. 15.
Call for Submissions: Cynopsis is producing its annual Holiday Programming Guide, which comes out on November 26 and will be sent to all Cynopsis and Cynopsis Kids subscribers. If your network has holiday-themed programming airing from November 27 through December 31, please send your listings to Lynn Leahey at [email protected] no later than Monday November 18. Please include the following information: type of program (i.e. series, special, documentary, movie or holiday-themed episode), title, dates and times of all airings (please indicate when the show first premieres and when subsequent encores will air). Vimeo has hired Jessica Casano-Antonellis as its Lead of Communications. Casano-Antonellis was previously an Account Director at Text100.
Pinterest has hired Joanne Bradford as its Head of Partnerships. Previously, Bradford was the President of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Mobile ad platform UberMedia has hired Neil Shapiro as its VP of Sales. Shapiro has worked at Verve Media, Shazam and AOL.
Nielsen’s CEO David Calhoun is stepping down from that role to take over as Executive Chairman of the Nielsen Board. Dwight Barns, who most recently served as the company’s President-Global Client Service, will take over Calhoun’s spot.

First, the agency poked fun at case studies, then “catvertising,” and now it’s released a funny video that highlights the absurd nature of “prankvertising.” Not only did the agency create a fake promotional video for a marketing team that utilizes prank advertising to the extreme, but it also recreated each prank in separate videos.
