Cynopsis: Kids!

11/03/06

Good morning. It’s  Friday, November  3, 2006 and this is your first early morning Kids! briefing.

Sorpresa! and CNN en Espanol are set to debut a co-produced weekend news segment entitled Que Pasa? tomorrow, November 4.  Hosted by CNN en Espanol anchor Claudia Palacios, the segment will run every weekend and will be specifically tailored for Hispanic K6-12, and will be broadcast exclusively on Sorpresa!  In addition to relaying news and topical information, the segment will feature special reports answering questions from the network’s young viewers, including entertainment and sports related questions to health and technology matters.

Sean is out of jail; Emma has a secret, well hers and Jay’s …  The N will premiere the final episode of the middle group of episodes from its sixth season (which includes a total of 19 episodes) of Degrassi: The Next Generation on Friday, November 17 at 8p.  Leading out of Degrassi is a new episode of South of Nowhere at 8:30p.  Beginning the following Friday, November 24, The N will introduce six new Degrassi Minis on its broadband media player, one Mini premiering each Friday for six consecutive weeks.  An original short-form broadband series, Degrassi Minis run between 2-3 minutes each.

MARKETING/LICENSING

Kicking later this month is High School Musical: The Concert… fake right and break left … just keep ya head in the game … (be happy you can’t hear me singing).  Much of the cast of Disney Channel movie High School Musical will step out in a 40-city tour where they will perform songs from High School Musical and several cast members, Corbin Bleu, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale will perform songs from their current and/or forthcoming solo albums.  Zac Efron, who starred as Troy in High School Musical, is currently shooting the movie Hairspray so he won’t be along for the tour.  Tickets for the tour go on sale tomorrow, November 4, and the tour makes its first stop on November 29 in San Diego, CA.  Kenny Ortega, director/choreographer of the High School Musical movie, is serving as creative director for High School Musical: The Concert.

Alloy Media + Marketing, the youth targeted media/promotions marketing company, and Mac-Gray Corporation, the laundry facilities contractor for 550 colleges/universities, have entered into an exclusive partnership under which Alloy will place branded Laundry Boards in laundry rooms at US colleges.  Debuting this month with its premiere advertiser, the National Guard, appearing on 1600 wall mounted ad boards in laundry rooms managed by Mac-Gray, reaching some 2+ million students.  The partnership expands Alloy’s already established campus media network and reach.  Following the initial phase of the agreement, Alloy and Mac-Gray intend to expand the new program through military and multicultural markets.  Mac-Gray will oversee the implementation of the Laundry Boards program and will also provide proof of performance for advertising partners.

STONE SOUP

Julie Andrews and her daughter Emma Walton Hamilton, a co-founder of the Bay Street Theater, will serve as the National Ambassadors for the 11th Annual Kids’ Night on Broadway, which will be held in New York City January 30 & 31, 2007.  Here is how it works, kids/teens 6-18 are invited to attend a Broadway performance for free when accompanied by a full paying adult.  Additionally, a series of events will be held prior to curtain on both nights and will feature appearances by Broadway performers.  Tickets go on sale today … and guess what … the tickets for those performances go quickly, very quickly.  www.kidsnightonbroadway.com.
