Good morning. It’s Friday, June 19, 2009, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

CBeebies has commissioned Initial, an Endemol Company, to produce a new cooking show, I Can Cook.  With the goal of getting preschoolers interested in food and cooking, I Can Cook offers a hands-on approach to cooking and investigates where the food in the kitchen and table comes from.  Set in a kid-friendly kitchen, each episode will feature host Katy Ashworth and five kids in making simple recipes while investigating the ingredients and taking part in games/activities.  I Can Cook is slated to debut in fall 2009 and will also feature an accompanying website at www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies .

Nickelodeon UK is set to produce a new version of the popular UK animated series Grizzly Tales, which in its original incarnation ran on ITV (2000-2006).  The new Grizzly Tales (26×11) are based on the recent book series penned by Jamie Rix and published by Orion.  Like the first series, the new Grizzly Tales adaptation will be narrated y Nigel Planer (The Young Ones, Hairspray).  The new Grizzly Tales series is set to launch on Nickelodeon UK in 2011, and will be preceded by replays of the original series (79×11) in 2010.  Produced by Grizzly TV, which is co-owned by Honeycomb Animation Enterprises and Elephant Productions, Grizzly Tales is distributed by ITV Global Entertainment.

Today’s Trivia Question:   Where is the “wettest, soggiest, dreariest place on Earth (you forgot useless). Situated directly between the United States and Canada (75 miles from International falls, in the middle of western Lake Superior), [it] had the distinction of being constantly fought over by both countries. The United States insisted it was a part of Canada, and Canada insisted it was a part of the United States.”  (Email [email protected] with your answer and be sure to include your name, company, city and time zone.
