Cynopsis: Kids!

07/30/10

Good morning. It’s Friday, July 30, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

CITV (UK) orders the new kid series The Cool stuff Collective (13×20) from Archie Productions, a UK-based indie kid/entertainment company.  Targeted to kids/tweens 7-12, The Cool Stuff Collective is a studio based magazine series that feature, test and review things that kids want to watch, own, eat, download and play.  Hosted by Sy Thomas (The Kids Choice Awards; Me:TV, Slime Across the UK, Little Howards Big Question), the series will be produced this fall at MTV Studios in Camden.  Some of the series segments include: Destruction Den  a place where accidents happen on purpose, such as those that happen in real life such as what happens when a new MP3 player meets with a glass of lemonade; The Popcrash Grannies  if grandma likes the song is must not be cool; The Classroom Committee  classes of real kids review games, consoles and DVDs; Star with the Remote Control Car  testing remote control toys and watching celebrities perform a stunt with remote control toys; Movie Trail Monkey  showcasing new movie trailers and rating the movie based on how much the monkey likes the movie.

AOL Kids ( www.kids.aol.com ) partners with Weplay.com ( www.weplay.com ), an online youth sports community, to launch a sports destination for kids at AOL Kids Sports ( www.kids.aol.com/sports/ ).  The new area allows kids to earn rewards for their sporting efforts, play sports games, watch videos, hang out with teammates, meet professional players and connect with other young athletes online.  AOL Kids is targeted to kids 6-12 and features email, favorites and weather, as well as games and activities across topics including music, sports, animals and entertainment.

NEW PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Rainmaker Entertainment enters into a first-look producing deal with visual effects specialist Wilson Tang (Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, A.I.: Artificial Intelligence, The Hulk) to develop and direct animated digital features and content.  Tang was previously with Electronic Arts Canada, where he was Sr. Art Director and franchise Creative Director.  He previously served as Visual Effects Art Director for George Lucas’ Industrial Light and Magic, and was a founder of The Embassy VFX in Vancouver.

Rob Schneider is lending his voice to Norm in Crest Animation Studios 3D family movie Norm of the North, per THR.  The movie is the second in a three picture deal with Lionsgate, which is distributing the movie in North America, the first is the CGI animated family movie Alpha And Omega releasing this fall.  Penned by Steven and Daniel Altiere, Norm of the North revolves around a polar bear named Norm and his three lemming pals who make their way to NYC when their Arctic home begins to disintegrate.
