(details below)
The current and ongoing feud between Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump is almost like a giant holiday gift that went bad. Seeing and hearing these two folks mouth off at each other is an unexpected if not altogether silly treat, particularly in their barrage of barbed insults about each other’s appearance. It’s almost like a couple of twerps duking it out on the playground. “You’re fat!” “You’re ugly!” Oh brother. And you’d think after a day and a half of that, it’d be over, but noooooooo … it continues. Trump called into an LA morning radio show yesterday and let lose another cannon of insults, and Rosie fired back yesterday morning on her ABC daytime show, The View, responding in kind to Trump’s insults. We can only guess what today will bring. Thankfully vacations are on the horizon.
It’s Baseball fantasy camp! Well, sorta, kinda, okay not really. Major League Baseball Advanced Media, NY Yankee Johnny Damon, GGL and Boras Marketing have teamed-up in a joint venture to introduce the Professional Baseball Video Game League (more easily described as PBGL). Damon, who also serves as the PBGL’s first League Commissioner, along with a gaggle of other pro MLB players, will go head-to-head in online video game competitions with one another and fans, beginning this week with the first game, Microsoft’s Project Gotham Racing 3, for Xbox 360. Tournament rules and information about how the public can sign up to participate can be found at www.PBGL.com. The PBGL roster of baseball players for season one include: Craig Hansen (Red Sox), Julian Tavarez (Red Sox), Matt Holliday (Rockies), Willy Taveras (Rockies), Prince Fielder (Brewers), Josh Barfield (Indians), Corey Patterson (Orioles), Rodrigo Lopez (Orioles), Derek Lowe (Dodgers), Seth McClung (Devil Rays), Mike Pelfrey (Mets), Luke Hochevar (Royals) and Dallas McPherson (Angels).
Robert E. Yde, 71, died December 18 from malignant melanoma. Since 1989, Robert and his wife, Cassie, owned and operated The Television Syndication Company, Inc., a television program distribution firm based in Longwood, FL that specializes in children’s and lifestyle programming including the programs Real Life 101 and P. Allen Smith Gardens. Robert’s 40-year career in the entertainment industry started with theatrical and Broadway production then moved into television production. Until his recent retirement in October, Robert produced shows and headed the marketing functions for TVS. The family has asked, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the SPCA of Central Florida, 2800 Country Home Road, Sanford, FL 32773. A memorial service for Robert will be held December 29, which would have been his 72nd birthday, at the Baldwin-Fairchild West Altamonte Chapel in Altamonte Springs, FL.
NBC‘s drama pilot Life from NBC Universal TV Studio has signed two leading cast members: Damien Lewis as the cop wrongfully imprisoned and now returning to the force; and Sarah Shahi as Lewis’ friend, who has her own dicey past to deal with, per Hollywood Reporter.
This item also from Hollywood Reporter – David E. Kelley’s The Wedding Planners series for Fox has added Benjamin King to the cast. The series is produced by 20th Century Fox TV and is about a family of three sisters, who run and operate a wedding planning business. King is one of the sister’s husband, and he is also the business head behind the business.
Touchstone Television has restructured its upper management and Mark Pedowitz, President will focus solely on future growth of the studio. Touchstone Television is now producing programming for cable networks such as ABC Family, Lifetime, FX and ESPN, and continues to produce projects for the broadcast networks including ABC, NBC and CBS. Jana Winograde, who has worked closely with Mark Pedowitz the last 10 years, will move into the position of EVP/Business Affairs, ABC Entertainment, ABC Daytime and SOAPnet, reporting to Stephen McPherson, President, ABC Entertainment and Brian Frons, President, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group.
Sabry Mohideen has been named VP/CFO at Bravo and will spearhead financial oversight of the network, in addition to the development of strategic and future plans. He will also serve as CFO for the Emerging Networks of the NBC Universal Television Group and will provide financial supervision of Sleuth and Universal HD.

Friday Fun Fact: Americans collectively eat one hundred pounds of chocolate every second.
The History Channel Presents this day in History:
1849: Sentenced to death for sedition, Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky is led before a firing squad and reprieved at the point of execution. Like many of his countrymen and women before and after him, he was sent to a Siberian labor camp. Unlike many others, he was released, and went on to write some of the defining works of Russian literature: Crime and Punishment (1866), The Possessed (also translated as Demons) (1872), and The Brothers Karamazov (1880).
