Half of Target guests report being likely to search for an item after seeing it on TV, and 33% say they will scan a QR code on their TV if they know it will take them to a familiar site. That’s according to Innovid’s CTV Commerce 2024 report, which also found:
– CTV has established itself as an integral part of the CPG video mix, accounting for 49% of total video impressions for the last two years. CPGs also have the highest average CTV campaign reach (25.24%) among all measured verticals, and are experiencing strong performance with the use of interactive ads, which see engagement rates 10x higher than standard video formats.
– Creative elements, including action-oriented calls to action like “Scan to Shop” or “Scan to Add to Cart,” are shown to create a sense of urgency and drive consumers to engage with shoppable ads. Shortening the number of “clicks” it takes to get to a desired action and maximizing QR codes’ time on screen were also found to be important components in creating successful interactive campaign experiences.
“CTV is playing a powerful role in driving both awareness and outcomes up and down the purchase funnel,” said Dan Mouradian, SVP, Global Client Solutions at Innovid. “It is an important and growing channel for advertisers when it comes to influencing consumer decisions and enabling shoppable experiences.”
Ad spend on made-for-advertising sites has dropped by 64%, according to the ANA’s Programmatic Transparency Benchmark Study. Last year, the trade association estimated that 15% of the media buys by major advertisers were spent on the fake sites, but the new report sets the number at 4%. The study, conducted by the ANA and Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG)’s TrustNet, analyzed log-level data for 31 billion programmatic ad impressions representing $211 million in ad spending by 11 major advertisers between January and May.
In an update to its Global Ad Forecast, MAGNA is raising its 2024 growth forecast following a stronger-than-expected ad market in the first quarter (+12%) and an improvement in the economic outlook (real GDP growth +3.2%, US +2.5%). MAGNA predicts that global media owners’ advertising revenues will reach $927 billion this year, growing by +10%, and the US ad market will grow by +10.7% this year to $374 billion. Traditional Media Owners ad sales will grow by +4.4% to $111 billion while DPP ad revenues will expand by +13.5% to $263 billion. Automotive and CPG/FMCG brands will be among the fastest-growing ad spending verticals this year, as Finance re-accelerates and Government expands due to the many elections taking place.
NBCUniversal Syndication Studios has renewed “Access Hollywood” and “Access Daily with Mario & Kit” through 2026 in national syndication. The studio has sold the entertainment news shows to NBCUniversal Local’s NBC Owned Television Stations, along with station groups across the country. “‘Access Hollywood’ and ‘Access Daily’ deliver engaging and entertaining content to our audiences, which has made them an indelible part of our NBC stations’ lineups,” said Therese Gamba, Chief Marketing Officer & Executive Vice President of Acquired Programming, NBCUniversal Local.
The Biden-Harris team is getting ahead of CNN’s June 27 presidential debate with a $50 million paid media campaign targeting voters in battleground states. The campaign, “Character Matters,” includes seven-figure investments into reaching Black, Latino, and AANHPI voters, and is running on general market television and CTV as well as national cable.
FOX News Media has elevated Jacqui Heinrich and Peter Doocy to senior White House correspondent. Heinrich will continue covering the White House beat, as well as co-hosting FOX News Audio’s “FOX News Rundown” podcast. For the first time, the “Hard Knocks” franchise will chronicle an entire NFL division with “Hard Knocks: In Season with the AFC North,” debuting Tuesday, December 3 at 9p on HBO. Episodes featuring the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers will premiere on subsequent Tuesdays through the end of the NFL regular season and continue into the NFL playoffs in January 2025. Last month it was announced that “Hard Knocks” will now be covering the NFL offseason with “Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants,” debuting Tuesday, July 2.

“The Daily Show” is launching a campaign, “InDogCision 2024: Rescuing Democracy,” aimed at getting voters to the polls, and animals adopted. The Comedy Central network has partnered with voter registration organization HeadCount and animal rescues across the country to host events in New York, Milwaukee and Chicago, where fans can meet pets up for adoption, and register to vote in 2024. The campaign kicks off Friday, June 21 at Animal Haven in New York.
This month, The Africa Channel celebrates Black Music Month and Juneteenth with a special lineup and focus on musical genre Afrobeats. Programming includes “Afrobeats: From Nigeria to the World”; “Music for Wildlife”; and “Muzik Ni.”

Sell-side advertising company Magnite and Spectrum Reach, the advertising sales business of Charter Communications, struck an agreement that will have Spectrum Reach expand on the current use of Magnite’s technology, which is focused on delivering targeted ads in a programmatic fashion in a privacy-focused way to consumers watching TV via the Spectrum TV App. The two parties’ agreement extends Magnite’s full programmatic capabilities to Spectrum’s video delivery technology, allowing ad buyers to bid on individual impression opportunities available on the app in real-time.
Viant Technology announced the launch of the latest version of its AI Bid Optimizer, an upgrade to the AI-driven bidding solution offered within its demand-side platform. The upgraded AI Bid Optimizer is powered by a deep learning neural network trained on Viant’s entire bid stream and is capable of processing millions of requests per second. The two-hour season premiere of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” on Tuesday, June 11 delivered more than 2.2 million total viewers and was the first time in 10 years that viewership for the series increased over a previous season premiere.
