CBS canceled “The Equalizer” after five seasons. “Stepping into a kick-ass role like Robyn was everything I hoped it would be,” posted series star Queen Latifah. “’The Equalizer’ blew past every dream we had for it, and having the opportunity to do this for five seasons honestly feels surreal.” Ratings for the drama had slipped this season after its move to a later Sunday timeslot.
Ten-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony is joining NBC Sports as an NBA studio analyst when the league returns to NBC for the 2025-26 season. The announcement was made during NBC’s coverage of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. “Watching the NBA on NBC growing up shaped my love for the game,” said Anthony. “Now, I’m thrilled to join the NBC Sports family. I’ve always used my platform to help grow the game, and I’m excited to bring fans a fresh perspective as we usher in a new era of NBA coverage and programming.” Anthony, who played 19 seasons in the NBA and retired after the 2022-23 season, is expected to be in the studio one or more nights per week through the playoffs.
Mike Tirico had to skip out on his Kentucky Derby coverage after a sudden illness. “Hate being a scratch after making the starting gate @KentuckyDerby,” he posted later. “Just a significant reaction to my nut allergy. If you have one you know how it can knock you down.” Tiroco will be joining Carmelo Anthony on NBA duty starting in October.
HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series is not being “secretly infused” with Potter creator – and series producer – J.K. Rowling’s anti-transgender viewpoint, assured HBO Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys on “The Town with Matthew Belloni” podcast. “It’s pretty clear that those are her personal, political views. She’s entitled to them,” said Bloys. “Our priority is what’s on the screen. Obviously, the Harry Potter story is incredibly affirmative and positive and about love and self-acceptance. That’s our priority — what’s on screen.” |
