| After a judge imposed a 14-day pause on the Nexstar–Tegna merger, Nexstar argued the order can’t fully unwind the deal and creates “immediate operational harm,” regulatory conflicts, and a governance vacuum. On Friday, US District Judge Troy Nunley granted DirecTV a temporary restraining order, finding its antitrust challenge likely to succeed. The judge also consolidated DirecTV’s lawsuit and one filed by eight states seeking to block the Nexstar–Tegna merger into a single action. Nexstar’s legal team now argues that the deal has already closed, making a freeze far more complex than a typical hold-separate. In court filings, they said parts of the TRO are “impossible” to comply with and could jeopardize the assets the court aims to preserve. A preliminary injunction hearing is set for April 7.
YouTube is stacking its Upfront with star power, tapping Trevor Noah to host and bringing top creators like Dude Perfect (61.8 million subscribers), Adam W (21 million), and Savannah Bananas (2.5 million) to the stage. Ratings and ad dollars don’t tell the whole story in TV. The 83rd Annual Golden Globes delivered $133.5 million in economic impact to Beverly Hills and the greater Los Angeles area, according to a report from Greyhill Advisors in partnership with Dick Clark Productions. The influx spanned hospitality, travel, dining, and lifestyle sectors. “The scale of the impact shows the Golden Globes is not just an entertainment event, but a significant economic driver for Beverly Hills and Los Angeles,” said Ben Loftsgaarden, partner at Greyhill Advisors. “Digging into the numbers reveals the surprising breadth and depth of dollars flowing into the community.” |

| On April 1, the day ESPN took over NFL Network and RedZone Channel, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent a note to NFL Media employees. “With a new league year upon us, we wanted to take a moment to recognize the members of our NFL family who will be transitioning to ESPN as part of the sale completed earlier this year,” he wrote. “In 2003, we had an idea. Many skeptics doubted there was demand for a network featuring round the clock, yearlong NFL news, information and analysis. But we knew our fans. We knew if we built it, they would come…. It is no surprise that the fruits of your labor would be attractive to an industry leader like ESPN as they look to serve the insatiable appetites of NFL fans.” The NFL’s deal with ESPN was announced in August.
