   IN THE NEWS

Despite rumors that she’d be leaving, Gayle King has signed a deal that will keep her on “CBS Mornings.” “Rumors of my demise were inaccurate and greatly exaggerated,” said King in a statement. “CBS News is my longtime home, and I am committed to our mission. I’m excited about continuing at ‘CBS Mornings.’ As always, I’m open to new adventures here and ready to go.”

It sounds like new adventures are indeed ahead for King. “Gayle and Nate Burleson are fantastic partners on the show and morning TV is more vibrant than ever,” said CBS News President Tom Cibrowski. “We are excited to continue to evolve ‘CBS Mornings’ and can’t wait for what’s to come.” The Wall Street Journal was first to report the news about King’s contract. Her current deal runs through May.

ABC handed “Abbott Elementary” and early season six renewal. That’s hardly a surprise – season to date, the comedy ranks as TV’s top comedy among Adults 18-49 in multi-platform viewing over 7 days, based on Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings.

A+E Global Media shared its 2026-27 programming slate during an Upfront presentation on Wednesday. Among the highlights on A&E were documentaries “Scott Peterson: The New Evidence” and “Johnny Cash: The Man Comes Around,” as well as new series “K9PD With John Belushi.” The History Channel is bringing out the star power with series hosted by Kevin Bacon, Ted Danson, Tom Selleck and Dolph Lungren, and has greenlit two digital-first series, “Mistakes That Made America” and “Cracking Up.”

New talent production pacts at Lifetime include movie deals with Queen Latifah and Flavor Unit, and Taraji P. Henson with TPH Studios and FOX Entertainment Studios. Orders have also gone out for four original movies, as well as a micro drama. “Last year, we introduced A+E Global Media to reflect the full depth and breadth of who we are: a multi-faceted global media and entertainment company, reflected in the strength and scale of our content, talent and global platforms reach,” said Paul Buccieri, President & Chairman, A+E Global Media. “Today, we are continuing to evolve on that foundation – delivering distinctive programming across the most popular genres and on every screen.”

President Trump added between $600,000 and $1.25 million in Netflix bonds to his personal portfolio in January, according to financial disclosures from the White House. Trump also purchased $500,000 to $1 million in Netflix bonds in December, after the streamer’s deal with Warner Bros. Discovery was announced. The purchases were among many disclosed by the president on Thursday. What do the buys signal? Nothing, said a White House official, explaining, “Neither President Trump nor any member of his family has any ability to direct, influence, or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold. All investment decisions are made entirely by independent managers.”
