Germany’s Veeseo announced it has partnered with Touchstorm to bring its software, which attaches related videos to online articles, to the U.S. “This helps us match video in a relevant way to any editorial on the publisher’s site… and it’s fully automated, which means it reduces workload for the editors and updates recommendation continuously, even on older articles,” Veeseo CEO Jan Anderson told Cynopsis. “We can drive more video traffic and ad revenues for the publisher.”
Sony Music Entertainment is getting into the holiday spirit with a three-day campaign at www.ChristmasCats.TV. From 9-5p EST, viewers can access a live-stream video of a grandmother and her cats as well as an integrated Twitter feed to chat with visitors. The cats in the video are also up for adoption from the North Shore Animal League America.
NBC News’ Special Anchor Maria Shriver announced her new social media initiative yesterday, called #DoingItAll. The campaign is part of Shriver’s upcoming report, A Woman’s Nation Pushes back from the Brink, which is asking viewers to take part in a discussion about what it means to “do it all.” Viewers can join the report at www.TODAY.com/doingitall, Twitter and Instagram from January 13-15, 2014.
The first eight minutes of FX‘s Sons of Anarchy post-show, Anarchy Afterward, will air after the show’s sixth season finale, at 11:52 on Tuesday, December 10, then stream live at www.anarchyafterward.com from 12a-12:52a.

NBCUniversal and Jeep are teaming up to create a new campaign video series for the Cherokee Effect that will feature NBC stars sharing their adventures across the country in the 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The campaign kicks off Dec. 9 on Bravo with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, and will continue over the next four months. Extended videos will be featured on the Cherokee Effect website; behind the scenes interviews will be available on Jeep’s blog.
Verizon added 16 new channels to its Verizon FiOS Mobile App. Customers with the (free) app will able to stream the channels, including Cooking Channel, Bloomberg Television, Showtime and STARZ, from eligible devices. In several East Coast markets, including New York, FiOS customers can watch CBS and Fox stations on tablets and smartphones.
The Travel Channel has updated its app for the new iOS7 software, and renaming it Travel Channel Cities, (formerly known as Travel Channel Layover Guide). The free, redesigned app features 24 cities (four of which are new) around the world as well as new tools including iCloud syncing and the ability for users to create their own itinerary for their trip.
The New York Times unveiled a new app called Today’s Paper, which features the newsstand version of the Times, solely for tablets and computers. The app seems to have been designed to appeal to NYT purists, who want to read the news organized in exactly the same way it is in print. The app is not yet available for smartphones.
LG Electronics rolled out one of the first flexible curved-screen smartphones yesterday. Called the G Flex, the new device, which can be bent or pressed flat, hit the South Korean shelves for a staggering $940, and will be available for only ten days. Forbes reports the phone differs from the Samsung Galaxy Round, in that it curves side-to-side. If the G Flex comes to the U.S. in early 2014, it will be priced comparably to other high-end smartphones.
Twitter announced it’s bringing on the first woman to the executive board after criticism to diversify the company’s top dogs in the period leading up its IPO. The former CEO of media company Pearson, Marjorie Scardino, is taking the spot on Twitter’s board to replace David Rosenblatt on its audit committee.
AOL announced yesterday that it Brian Balthazar will come on board as AOL’s Executive Producer and Head of Programming for AOL.com. Balthazar comes from HGTV where he was Director of Original Programming and Development.
Multi-screen advertising tech company Jivox announced it has brought on Rick Kleczkowski as its new Chief Operating Officer. Kleczkowsi was previously Digital Broadcasting Group’s Chief Operating Officer as well as Google’s Double Click Vice President of North America’s Video Sales.
Todd Taplin has been appointed as the mobile ad company Celtra Inc.’s new Executive Vice President of Global Sales, Strategy and Services. Taplin was formerly Adobe’s Vice President of the Advertising Group.
Advertising and publishing tech firm NetSeer has appointed Dennis Clerke as its new President of Monetization. Clerke was previously Managing Director of DaggerBoard Advisors, LLC, and Executive Vice President of Software Equity Group.
Los Angeles public relations agency Stanton & Company announced it has hired Jody Sowa as its new Public Relations Director. Additionally, the company promoted its current PR Manager Leah-Vail Soloff to become PR Supervisor. Sowa comes from M&C Saatchi PR.
