Good morning. It’s Friday, January 24, 2014, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.
Fresh off a new 12-year deal with the NHL, Scott Moore was named President of Sportsnet & NHL at Rogers Media, where he will lead the two sports portfolios, “leveraging the company’s cable, wireless and suite of media assets to deliver world-class hockey and sports experiences to fans across the country.”
“Scott’s vision, creativity, and ability to drive innovative production elements set him apart. With Scott at the helm, fans will experience sports like never before,” Rogers Media President Keith Pelley said in a statement.
We will see a Super Bowl rematch after all. FOX announced that FOX News Channel’s Bill O’Reilly will once again conduct a live sit-down interview with President Barack Obama during the FOX Super Bowl Sunday pregame show on Sunday, Feb. 2nd, taking place around 4:30p. Following the live interview, O’Reilly will conduct an additional taped portion with President Obama that will be run on the Monday, Feb. 3rd edition of The O’Reilly Factor at 8p. This marks his third interview with President Obama, including the 2011 interview also shown before the Super Bowl. The annual game day interview with the president was done by CBS’ Scott Pelley last year while NBC’s Matt Lauer did it in 2012.

Golf Channel launched coverage this week with the season-opening Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic. Season highlights include: 16 hours of live coverage of the inaugural International Crown (July 24-27), the first-of-its-kind, global match-play competition; the three LPGA Major Championships; and pro-am shows from four tournaments. For the third-consecutive year, the tour will provide live coverage for more than 90% of North American telecasts, including 100 percent of weekend telecasts.
FOX Sports 1 is set to carry live coverage of the NASCAR Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, Jan. 29 starting at 7p. Mike Joy and Krista Voda return to co-host the Induction Ceremony.
