Effective January 1, HBO won’t be releasing overnight ratings for its series. The move follows a similar decision by FX, which stopped releasing “live plus same day” ratings, earlier this year. “HBO subscribers have available to them an array of entry points to watch our programming HBO linear feeds, DVR, HBO On Demand and HBO GO and a single airing is no longer representative of an HBO show’s true audience size,” said HBO in a statement. “Today, it’s common for final gross-audience figures to grow anywhere from five to ten times viewership after an initial airing.” In the new year, HBO viewership figures will first be made available approximately two weeks after a program’s premiere, including Nielsen’s live-plus-seven and preliminary HBO On Demand and HBO GO data.
Another day, another gig for Terry Crews. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actor and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire host is set to emcee the new FOX unscripted comedy World’s Funniest Fails. Series debuts Friday January 16 at 8p.
FXX launches its new late-night animation block at midnight on Thursday, January 22 with all-new episodes of Lucas Bros. Moving Co. and Stone Quackers. Viewers will get a sneak peek at the two shows on Thursday, January 1 at 12a, immediately following a marathon of The Simpsons. After January 22, the programming block will air Thursdays at midnight.
CMT‘s broadcast of the CMT Ultimate Kickoff Party Live from the College Football Playoff National Championship has added to its lineup of performers. Joining the mix are Jake Owen, Maddie & Tae and Thomas Rhett. The live special airs Friday, January 9 at 9p.

Hobby Airport (HOU) in Houston. The network is also bolstering its lineup by adding original programming like Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Somebody’s Gotta Do It with Mike Rowe and The Sixties, as well as truTV’s The Carbonaro Effect.
In a special episode of Prospectors, airing Sunday, December 21 at 9p, The Weather Channel partners with Make-A-Wish so that a young fan from Southern California can mine with prospectors Dwayne Hall and the Dorris Family.
