Saturday’s Final Day singles matches at the Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia became the most-watched cable telecast in Presidents Cup history, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals, airing live in primetime on Golf Channel (6 p.m.-12:05 a.m. ET). The final day posted a Total Audience Delivery of 1.742 million viewers per minute (+141% vs. ’15 Final Day), including 1.705 million viewers per minute tuning in to the linear telecast. Viewership peaked at 2.15 million viewers per minute (1.37 U.S. HH rating) from 11:15-11:30 p.m. ET as the United States team was completing its come-from-behind victory over the International team. Saturday also became the most-streamed Final Day in Presidents Cup history.
PROGRAMMING
beIN SPORTS released its coverage schedule in advance of El Clásico, between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid C.F. on Wednesday, December 18th. Hope Solo will be live from the beIN SPORTS Miami studios, while Ray Hudson will be live from Barcelona all week long. Special programming will continue with The Locker Room tonight at 7:00 PM EST and feature Hope Solo and Ray Hudson, as well as former Italian soccer star, Christian Vieri, who will be joining alongside Hudson from Barcelona.
Sunday’s Bills-Steelers matchup on NBC’s Sunday Night Football averaged a Total Audience Delivery of 18.5 million viewers, ranking as primetime’s #1 show for the week. The game was topped only by a prior Bills’ NBC SNF game 12 years ago (14.5 million vs. unbeaten Patriots, 11/18/07). NBC’s Sunday Night Football is averaging a Total Audience Delivery of 20.5 million viewers this season.
ESPN will provide extensive coverage of National Signing Day Wednesday with more than eight hours of coverage across five networks—ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network, Longhorn Network and SEC Network. Eight of the nation’s most sought after high school football recruits will make their announcements live on ESPN2 (10 a.m. – noon ET) and ESPNU (noon – 3 p.m.) as part of the network’s National Signing Day Special.
College GameDay finished with the show’s most-watched season since 2015 and its second best since the show expanded to three hours seven seasons ago. The pregame show (9 a.m. – noon ET) averaged 1,956,000 viewers on ESPN and ESPNU, up 3% from last season on the same two networks and up 6% from the 2017 season when the show was only on ESPN. The viewership was only 5,000 viewers shy of its 2015 viewership, which is the best on record since 2013.
The upward path of FOX Sports’ ratings continued in November with another month of double-digit viewership growth. The brand scored 543 million video views (+41% year-over-year) and 2.7 billion minutes of total consumption (+29% YoY) across social and streaming platforms, according to Adobe Analytics. The brand also had its best month ever on YouTube, which contributed 206 million video views (+93% YoY) and 1 billion minutes consumed (+60% YoY).
NBC Sports has teamed with Tupelo Raycom to air the World Chase Tag (WCT) Championship on Thursday, December 19th, at 10:30 p.m. ET, and Sunday, December 22nd, at 10:30 p.m. ET. The airings will mark the first-ever U.S. telecast of the World Chase Tag Championships, which were recently held in London.

The National Lacrosse League San Diego Seals announced that they will play the Vancouver Warriors game on the flight line at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1:00 PM PST. This will be the first regular-season professional sporting event ever played on a Marine Corps base. Miramar is home to more than 12,200 marines, sailors and civilians, and covers more than 23,100 acres.

Atrium Sports, a technology platform for sports and video data content , announced the acquisition of Synergy Sports Technology, provider of data and video analytics tools for the NBA, MLB and NCAA basketball and baseball. Synergy Sports provides teams with analytics and tools that power scouting, player development and entertainment monetization. By integrating Synergy’s content into Atrium’s platform, teams, leagues and federations will gain greater access to data and advanced automated video production of live sports events. This comes after Atrium’s recent partnership with FIBA to launch the FIBA Connected Stadium rollout.
Pixellot acquired sports video analysis and editing platform VidSwap . For coaches and analysis professionals, Pixellot will now offer improved tools featuring immediate game breakdowns; a mobile app for practices; and individual team and player data.
ESPORTS
The Overwatch League announced a collaboration with TeamSpeak , provider of online communication services and tools. In a three-year deal beginning with its 2020 season, the Overwatch League will integrate TeamSpeak’s advanced technology to power all in-game communications as the league’s official voice supplier through 2022.
Stewart-Haas Racing announced that it is revamping its esports team, which will now be called Stewart-Haas Esports and will enter the eNASCAR iRacing World Championship Series in ’20. The team was previously called Stewart-Haas Gaming.
The Capcom Pro Tour 2020 is making changes to their schedule. The season will begin in March, but this time there will be a points reset in July that will even the playing field for players halfway through the season. Eight players from those global leaderboards will be selected from the March to July season, while an additional eight will earn a spot after the reset occurs.
