Carpool Karaoke king James Corden (The Late Late Show) will be steering the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, after presiding over a 2016 Tony Awards that had its largest audience in 15 years. Corden follows a five year Grammy hosting run by LL Cool J, and Jack Sussman, EVP, specials, music and live events, was quick to give to give Cool J his due. “LL was a dynamic host who guided our broadcast to great success with charisma, gravitas and poignancy when the moment called for it,” said Sussman. The 2017 edition airs live on CBS Sunday, February 12 at 8p.
CBS will not be adding to its original 13-episode order of Pure Genius, though the medical drama remains on the schedule. The show, averaging .9 among A18-49 Thursdays at 10p, is the only CBS frosh not to get an add-on order.
Donald Trump slammed the media Monday night for reporting on possible conflicts of interest when he takes on the role of President. After meeting with leaders from CNN, Fox News, ABC, NBC and CBS earlier in the day, Trump tweeted, “Prior to the election it was well known that I have interests in properties all over the world. Only the crooked media makes this a big deal!”
Cablevision owner Altice Group is in the midst of a carriage dispute with AMC Networks, according to the New York Post. AMC is owned by the Dolan family, which sold Cablevision to Altice this year for $17.7 billion. “We have a long history of working with and creating value for Cablevision and Suddenlink and their customers,” said AMC Networks in a statement. “We are seeking nothing more than fair value for our programming, consistent with all of our recent distribution agreements.”
The cast of Friends might not have liked The Rembrandts’ “I’ll Be There for You” as much as you did. “No one was a really big fan of that theme song,” said Jennifer Aniston during an interview on BBC One’s The One Show. As for the opening sequence, “Dancing in a pond, or like, a fountain, felt a little odd,” said Aniston. “But we did it.”

Wattpad, the multiplatform entertainment company, and Universal Cable Productions are teaming to develop original content, with UCP will producing TV projects based on custom data and insights gleaned from Wattpad’s community of 2.3 million storytellers and research. “Wattpad data will help spot compelling stories with massive built-in audiences, and fans will influence the development process,” said head of Wattpad Studios Aron Levitz. “There’s no place for hunches and guesses when it comes to content development these days. Data- and community-driven entertainment is the future.”
Fox is developing Visual Intelligence, based on the book by Amy Herman about using works of art to help experts from different fields sharpen their perception and find hidden clues. Project comes from Liz Garcia and Josh Harton (Memphis Beat), Blindspot EP Mark Pellington and 20th Century Fox Television.

Thin Ice landed a pilot order from Fox. The comedy, written by Liz Meriwether (New Girl), Ed Macdonald and Mark Grimmer, focuses on a woman surrounded by a group of brilliant misfits in Antarctica. Meriwether is exec producing with New Girl’s Katherine Pope; studio is 20th Century Fox Television.
ABC is developing a comedy from Breckin Meyer (Men at Work), Jamie Tarses and Scott Stuber and ABC Studios, about a newly single dad living in the guest house of his ex-wife’s new love.
Lifetime’s The Rap Game launches season three on Friday, January 13 at 10p. This go-round will feature a special appearance by social activist Bernice King, daughter of Coretta and Martin Luther King Jr.
Animal Planet’s Ocean Warriors, from executive producers Robert Redford and Paul Allen, launches Sunday, December 4 at 9p and 10p, continuing on December 11 and 18. Six-parter follows activists and scientists as they track down outlaw mercenaries threatening marine life.
Season 2 of ID’s Barbara Walters Presents debuts Tuesday, December 6 at 9p. Mixing interviews past and present, Walters delves into the lives of Michael Jackson, Leona Helmsley and Gary Hart.
IFC’s first (slightly off) seasonal event, Joe’s Pub Presents: A Holiday Special will tape in front of a live NYC audience on Wednesday, November 30 and air on the network Wednesday, December 21 at 10p. ABC freshman drama Designated Survivor centers on a low-level cabinet member who is appointed President after an attack on the Capitol. Tonight’s special edition of 20/20 explores what would happen in a real-life scenario in which a catastrophic event threatened to potential line of succession (secret bunkers! underground cities!). “The Real Designated Survivor” airs tonight at 10p.
RFD-TV is serving a Thanksgiving marathon that starts with FarmHer from 9a-12p, followed by The Andy Williams Christmas Special.
Viceland is showing late night hosts Desus & Mero the light on Black Friday, with an all-day marathon of the free-form, unscripted comedic commentary on November 25. The binge opportunity follows a half-hour “best of” episode Thanksgiving night at 11p.
Animal Planet is asking viewers to tune in to drive donations to a rescue center featured on Pit Bills & Parolees. In “You Watch. We Give.”, the donation of up to $50,000 will be determined by the number of viewers who watch the show on Saturday, November 26 at 9p.

SNL alum Molly Shannon wlll guest on CBS comedy Life in Pieces, reports Variety. The episode, in which Shannon plays a private chef hired to cook Jen (Zoe Lister-Jones) and Greg (Colin Hanks) a romantic dinner, is slated to air in February.

AT&T, Dish Network and WPP Group struck a deal to acquire addressable TV advertising platform provider Invidi Technologies, which will operate independently under the agreement. “Maintaining our independence and deepening our existing relationships with AT&T, Dish and WPP is a big move for our company and our people,” said Dave Downey, Invidi CEO. AT&T will hold a controlling interest; financial terms were not disclosed.
NFL national TV advertising dipped just 2 percent through November versus last year, reports iSpot.tv, to $1.95 billion impressive, given double digit declines in ratings, and the loss in ad revenue from sports fantasy leagues. Verizon has been the biggest spender, with $93.7 million, followed by Geico ($52 million), Toyota ($51.7 million), the NFL ($47.6 million) and Chevrolet ($42.1 million).
Bravo landed three new sponsors for Top Chef. BMW North America has signed on as official automotive partner, Patron Tecquila is exclusive tequila partner and Newest Secret Resorts & Spas in Mexico will serve as the location for the final two episodes. The reality show will features BMW’s X5 xDrive40e plug-in electric hybrid sports activity vehicle in six episodes, and Patron will be integrated into a Quickfire and Elimination challenge, as well as sponsor vignettes created by Bravo. Cooking competition returns for season 14 on December 1.
Freeform has launched comedic short-form Oh My Josh! on Freeform.com, the Freeform app and Hulu. Original unscripted series focuses on the professional and personal life of dancer and choreographer Josh Horner. The Aussie will look familiar to fans of Freeform reality show Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?, where he was seen teaching Ben how to dance last night.
Amazon reports The Grand Tour, starring Top Gear alums Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, is its most streamed original show ever. “Their creativity, along with the amazing production quality and 4K HDR streaming, has Prime members responding in a big way,” said Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
Amazon is in talks with the NBA, MLB and NFL, among others, for live sports, according to the Wall Street Journal. One possibility reportedly being discussed is an exclusive premium sports package that would draw new members to Amazon Prime.
NBCUniversal, Verizon and Macy’s are teaming for a 360 livestream of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Verizon’s YouTube page, featuring a special curated program hosted by Marlon Wayans and Olivia Culpo. Five 360 cameras along the parade route will show viewers the livestream from different angles, along with graphic pop-ups featuring facts about the parade. The livestream will be synced with the start of the parade on November 24 at 9a on NBC and live on Verizon’s YouTube page.
FXX is promoting its “Simpsons 600 Marathon” of the first 600 episodes of The Simpsons, starting Thanksgiving Day at noon, with Snapchat-themed filters and promos during the 13-day stunt. Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa and Maggie will also appear on billboards and bus stops.
