Linear TV remains the most important influence among a variety of different media platforms through consumers’ purchase decision process, according to a study released by TVB. “The 2025 Purchase Funnel Study,” conducted by GfK/NiQ, analyzed the behavior of consumers exposed to advertising across six categories through any of 20+ media platforms. Key findings include:
· Among respondents who cited TV as the most important for awareness, seven out of ten respondents chose broadcast TV versus cable.
· At 68%, TV is the top platform for exposure to advertising – about three times that of each of the next five runners up.
· Exposure to a media platform is not a guarantee of consumer importance, except for TV.
· Broadcast TV is the primary source of news.
· Local broadcast TV news is #1 for trust among media platforms. Social media is the least trusted.
· 82% of total respondents said that linear TV ads influence their online search selections. |

Prime Video canceled “Cruel Intentions” after one season. The drama, produced by Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, and Original Film, was an adaptation of the 1999 film.
While the majority of CTV viewers say they use their mobile phones to make a purchase after seeing a TV ad, 60% would save their shipping and payment details on their TV for quick checkout. So says a study from LG Ad Solutions, “The Shoppable TV Report: 2025 and Beyond,” tracking the evolving habits of consumers and their preferences towards shoppable TV advertising. Highlights of the report include:
· When asked how they’d like to complete purchases via TV, 62% of CTV viewers would use their voice to add products through a smart home device.
· Top drivers of TV ad purchases include discounts or promotions (57%), product features (42%), demonstrations of product use (36%), and attractive visuals (32%).
· Dynamic creative, time-sensitive, special offers and click to on-screen landing pages can help drive 2-5X lift in brand consideration and purchase intent (compared to US benchmarks).
“While secondary screens like mobile devices remain integral to shopping and the broader advertising ecosystem, it’s clear consumers want more when it comes to TV,” said Monica Longoria, Head of Marketing Insights at LG Ad Solutions. “Emerging technologies are set to drive this next wave of innovation – eliminating friction and paving the way for a more seamless, intuitive shoppable TV experience.”
Netflix reports it has sold out its ad inventory for “WWE RAW” title sponsorships. Advertising partners include presenting sponsor Snickers, as well as MinuteMaid, Cricket Wireless, and Wingstop, and others throughout the next few quarters. “RAW” has consistently landed in Netflix’s Top 10, averaging over 2 million views per episode.
Viewership for women’s sports leaped 131% in 2024, with a 56% year-over-year increase in ad impact. That data comes from EDO’s 2025 Women’s Sports TV Outcomes Report, whose findings also include:
· Women’s sports ads drove 40% more ad impact than the average primetime ad in 2024.
· Ads during the 2024 WNBA playoffs were 24% more effective than those during the average primetime program — up 11% year-over-year. Spots during the NCAA tournament were 18% more effective than the primetime average.
· The 2024 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship Game between Penn State and Louisville was 51% more effective for advertisers than the average primetime program – making it the #1 most effective women’s sports TV program in 2024. Women’s college gymnastics and college lacrosse posted annual ad effectiveness growth of 15% and 26%, respectively.
· Brands generated strong results when airing ads featuring women athletes and sports themes during games. CarMax was 185% more effective than the average WNBA advertiser via ads that featured a quartet of the league’s stars.
“Women’s sports are officially a business imperative,” said Laura Grover, SVP, Head of Client Solutions at EDO. “It’s not just about reaching this fast-growing audience — it’s about inspiring action, building brand affinity, and driving real business impact.”
MSNBC has filled another seat at “The Weekend.” Washington Post columnist and frequent MSNBC guest Catherine Rampell is joining Ayman Mohyeldin and another to-be-named co-host on the 6p-9p show. Rampell is expected to start this spring. |

Season four of HBO’s “Hacks” kicks off Thursday, April 10 at 9p. The ten-episode season debuts with two episodes, then one episode a week for four weeks. Episodes seven and eight debut together on May 15, followed by episode nine on May 22.
Hearst Media Production Group’s “The Visioneers with Zay Harding” will air weekend mornings on starting Saturday, April 5 as part of the CBS WKND educational/informational programming block. The eco-adventure series is hosted by Harding, known for PBS series “Globe Trekker.”
“The Valley” is back for season two on Tuesday, April 15 at 9p on Bravo. Ready for it? “Chaos ensues as the group deals with the fallout of long-term relationships dissolving, the rumor mill continuing to run and friendships fracturing, possibly beyond repair,” teases Bravo.
Nickelodeon’s new 2D-animated series “Wylde Pak,” which follows the daily life of a blended multigenerational Korean American family, is slated to debut this summer. “Nickelodeon’s commitment to showcasing stories about the human experience, filled with humor and adventure, holds true with the debut of the original series ‘Wylde Pak,’” said Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation. |
Sixty-four rock acts will face off in AXS TV’s “March Music Battle of the Bands,” running March 17-April 7. Viewers can cast their votes to determine who will advance to the next rounds and who will be eliminated. |

HBO had a Sunday to celebrate. The fourth episode of season three of “The White Lotus” hit a season high 3.4 million cross-platform viewers. The season is averaging 12.2 million viewers, up 78% from the same period last year. And “The Righteous Gemstones” had its best season premiere ever, drawing 919,000 cross-platform viewers, up 30% from the debut of season three, which proceeded to average 5.5 million viewers.
Sunday’s FS1 race on Sunday drew 2.82 million viewers, ranking as the most-watched NASCAR Cup Series race on FS1 since 2021, and the top cable telecast of the day.
HGTV’s “The Flip Off” was HGTV’s highest-rated freshman series among Adults 25-54 since 2022. The six-episode season attracted nearly 14 million total viewers across linear and streaming since its premiere on Wednesday, January 29, and averaged a .56 Live+3 rating in the demo, up 195% over the previous six weeks.
Netflix lifestyle series “With Love, Meghan,” starring Meghan Markle, reached 12.6 million hours viewed its first week, barely making into the streamer’s top ten. Coming in first was “Running Point,” starring Kate Hudson, with 61.8 million hours viewed.
