Good morning. It’s Thursday, November 20, 2014, and this is your first early morning digital briefing.

Premieres: Atari: Game Over – Xbox One, Xbox 360, xboxvideo.com

NEW PROGRAMMING + DEALS

Mystery no more: Nielsen will begin measuring subscription web streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Price, according to the Wall Street Journal. Both platforms have kept ratings under wraps, but Nielsen plans to identify viewership, but will not include streaming on mobile devices at first. The data will be provided to clients, media companies like TV networks and studios, to see how their acquired content is performing on the services. “Our clients will be able to look at their programs and understand: Is putting content on Netflix impacting the viewership on linear and traditional VOD?” Nielsen Senior Vice President Brian Fuhrer told WSJ.

Alec Baldwin has some words of advice when it comes to love, and he’s dishing it in the back of New York City cabs in his new Above Average series Alec Balwin’s Love Ride. The series follow’s the actor has he picks up unsuspecting couples, along with his famous friends, to learn their stories and provide relationship advice. The first two episodes are available on AboveAverage.com, and featuring the first guest, comedy writer Paula Pell.

Oxygen is developing a docu-series revolving around the talent of beauty and fashion multi-channel network StyleHaul. Survival of the Clickiest (wt), will follow a group of rising stars as they try to keep up and break out in the competitive world of beauty, fashion and vlogging. The half-hour show will debut in fall 2015, and is likely to feature SH’s Zoella, Raye Boyce (ItsMyRayeRaye) and Alyssa Forever (Curly by Nature).

PBS Digital Studios mockumentary series Everything But the News returned for another season yesterday. The new 16-episode season continues to follow newbie reporter Steve Goldbloom as he goes on assignment for PBS NewsHour. A new episode will roll out every Wednesday on PBS.org, Xbox, Roku and AppleTV devices. Goldbloom dished to Cynopsis what to expect this season: “Co-Creator and Director Noah Pink and Producer and Editor Nic Pollock have some hard-hitting reports in the cannon. Everything from a dating site that uses facial recognition technology to match its clients, to an Ivy League entrepreneurial startup pair that specialize in selling only black v-neck t-shirts, to Instacart – the new Uber of grocery shopping. Viewers can expect to see more absurd reporting and a little less drama. Unless of course I get fired…then there will be drama!”

Xbox‘s documentary Atari: Game Over premiered on Xbox consoles today. Produced by two-time academy award-winning producer Simon Chinn (Searching for Sugar Man and Man on Wire) and Emmy-winning producer Jonathan Chinn (30 Days), along with director Zak Penn (Avengers), the film follows the disposal of millions of unsold E.T. video games from Atari. While viewing on Xbox platforms, users can leave time-shifted comments to stay on the film’s timeline, read comments from Penn imbedded in key moments of the film and explore outtakes and behind-the-scenes clips. The film is free to watch for all Xbox Live members.

Newsy launched The War & Money Project interactive video experience exploring the nation’s arms race over the past six decades. The online video project is part of News Your Own Adventure (NYOA) productions and digests topics into segments on the platform to allow the viewer to jump to different portions they are most interested in.

CONTENT MEDIA

Netflix is postponing the Bill Cosby comedy special in light of the multiple allegations of sexual assault against the comedian. The special Bill Cosby 77 was supposed to hit the streaming service on Nov. 28, and was filmed on Cosby’s 77th birthday in July. NBC also recently scrapped the comedy series it was planning with Cosby in light of the news.

International TV and movie streaming service DramaFever will release two exclusive films for free online in time for The New York Korean Film Festival starting today. The two films include the dramas The Fatal Encounter and M.

Screen Media Ventures‘s Popcornflix, Frightpix and Popcornflix Kids channels have surpassed 4.5 million downloads on Roku devices. The three ad-supported services provides users with free access to TV and movie content across Roku, Xox 260, iOS, Android devices and more.

Want to find out what shows from BET, and Defy Media are online and when? They’re just three of the latest companies whose programming is included in Watcheroo, Cynopsis’ new Digital Programming Guide. Organized by show name, date, and platform, here is everything you’ll need to be caught up on digital premieres, ongoing programs, live-streamed events and integrated series.

AD PLATFORMS

Videology and Mediaocean announced a partnership to bring ad buyers to evaluate TV and digital video ads within Mediaocean’s Spectra platform. “With the volume of television campaigns placed through Mediaocean’s platform each day, the ability to seamlessly integrate video into the mix is huge,” Videology Chairman and CEO Scott Ferber said. “We talk about the convergence of television and video advertising all the time, but the practical application of buying TV and video together is what will move convergence from an interesting concept to an everyday reality.”

RESEARCH

Integral Ad Science released the Q3 2014 Media Quality Report, featuring general video standards. Key highlights from the report include:

1.    Video fraud was higher than display ads with an average of 15 percent versus three percent for publishers, and 13.7 percent for networks and ad exchanges.

2.    Video viewability averaged 30 percent; lower than the 53.4 percent viewability for publishers and 36.7 percent for networks and exchanges in display.

3.    Video completion rates were higher than viewable video completion rates, which means many autoplay videos were scrolled out of view by a user or simply out of view.
