ESP Research reports that MLB saw sponsors fork up a record $892 million this past season, marking an increase of 7.9% over 2016. The report, per Yahoo, adds that NBA sponsors spent $861 million last season, up 7.8% increase, with NHL sponsors dedicating $505 million for a rise of 5.9% increase while MLS sponsors are projected to have spent $347 million this season, up 4.1%. Meanwhile, NFL once again took home the crown with $1.25 billion spent on the league last season.

The PGA TOUR and Rapiscan Systems inked a deal to make the security screening provider the title sponsor of the PGA TOUR Champions event contested annually at Fallen Oak in Biloxi, Miss. The newly-named Rapiscan Systems Classic will be held in March of 2018, with a three-year agreement in place through the 2020 season. Bruno Event Team will manage the event, with the MGRC Foundation continuing to serve as the tournament’s host organization, and tournament proceeds benefitting area charities.
The NBA and Intel announced a multiyear technology partnership making Intel an authorized provider of virtual reality with Intel True VR technology and 360-degree volumetric video with Intel freeD technology for official NBA broadcast partners globally. In addition to yesterday’s news that Intel will deliver live VR content for key NBA on TNT matchups, the league will also work with the brand to produce 360-degree volumetric video and will explore other potential collaborations to enhance the creation and delivery of NBA content.
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service and NBC Olympics said that US service members worldwide would again be able to watch Olympic streaming coverage from their desktop and personal devices when NBCUniversal presents the XXIII Olympic Winter Games from PyeongChang in February. “We’re excited to continue this creative partnership between the Exchange and Comcast NBCUniversal to deliver the Olympics to the U.S. military community around the globe,” said Brigadier General Carol Eggert, U.S. Army, Retired and Senior Vice President of Military and Veteran Affairs at Comcast NBCUniversal. “The traits of Olympic athletes – determination, teamwork, perseverance – are shared by our service members, and it is a privilege for Comcast NBCUniversal to bring this landmark event to those who serve our Nation.”
