The integration of data from the court and field to the broadcast to expansive brand and fan engagement has never been more critical for business growth, and there are few more experienced at leading such integration than David Levy. During a 30-year run at Turner, Levy played a key role in defining and expanding the company’s media rights and securing long-term partnerships with the NBA, MLB, NCAA and PGA, while also expanding original content and finding areas of critical growth for partnerships beyond the traditional. Now in his role of chairman at Genius Sports, he is crafting the strategy for Genius’ expansive role beyond data integrity and sports betting into rights, marketing and media partnerships among other areas. On Genius’ work with the NCAA: Genius Sports has worked in close partnership with the NCAA since 2018, transforming the use of live game statistics across the entire college sports ecosystem. The NCAA’s vision was to centralize how its more than 1,100 members capture, manage, and distribute live statistics on every game, creating an official data feed that could act as a single verifiable source of truth. So far, NCAA LiveStats has been rolled out for five sports and counting, covering over 100,000 games across women’s and men’s competitions. The speed, accuracy and depth of the NCAA’s new official data feeds make them hugely valuable to not only their member schools and conferences but also their broadcast, brand, and media partners.

On The Genius/NFL relationship: The NFL partnership has transformed our business and fast-tracked our mission to power the entire sports ecosystem. Greg Norman was named Chief Executive of a newly formed, Saudi Arabian backed company – LIV Golf Investments, which will look to launch a new 10-tournament series on the Asian Tour from 2022. LIV Golf Investments is backed by the Private Investment Fund which operates on behalf of the government of Saudi Arabia. According to multiple reports, the new Asian series will be added to the Asian Tour schedule starting in 2022 with new events across Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

Jake “The Problem Child” Paul and Tommy “TNT” Fury are confirmed to square off in a sanctioned eight-round cruiserweight battle headlining a SHOWTIME PPV event on Dec. 18 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa. Titled #PaulFury: One Will Fall, the event is produced and presented by Most Valuable Promotions and SHOWTIME PPV and promoted in association with Tony Holden Productions. The pay-per-view telecast begins live at 9p. “Jake Paul is about to learn a serious life lesson. This is my world, and he doesn’t belong here,” said Fury. “I’m not one of these MMA men or basketball players, I have been boxing my whole life. On December 18th I will show the world the difference between a YouTuber and a real fighting man. CBS Sports locked in its college football Saturday showcase for Nov. 6 at 3:30p, lining up Auburn/Texas A&M for its SEC on CBS matchup. Brad Nessler, Gary Danielson and reporter Jamie Erdahl will be on the call from Kyle Field in College Station. The day’s action kicks off at 11:30a with the first game of a CBS Sports college football doubleheader, featuring a Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy game between Army and Air Force from Globe Life Field.

World TeamTennis unveiled a trio of broadcast partners for the upcoming 2021 season, announcing that Tennis Channel, NBCSN and For The Fans will serve as the official broadcast partners for the 2021 season at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden from Nov. 13-28. In addition, Guaranteed Rate has been added as a session presenting sponsor for the championship match of the WTT season, with WTT Finals presented by Guaranteed Rate scheduled for Nov. 28. Tennis Channel, who will broadcast World TeamTennis for the second straight season, will be the exclusive outlet for the season’s second week, televising the final 13 matches. Eight matches will be carried on NBCSN between Nov. 13 and Nov. 18. For The Fans will have coverage of 10 matches, starting with the first match on Nov. 13 between the 2020 WTT runner-up Chicago Smash and the San Diego Aviators.

The 2021 NBA G League Winter Showcase lands in Las Vegas from Dec. 19-22 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The event marks the return of the NBA G League’s premier in-season NBA scouting opportunity to Las Vegas, spanning four days with more than 30 games spread across two courts. Games will begin at 11a each day with four games on each court. The 2021 Winter Showcase will feature the expanded NBA G League Showcase Cup Tournament, a single-elimination tournament where eight teams will compete for the Showcase Cup Championship. Beginning Friday, Nov. 5, the league’s 29 teams and NBA G League Ignite will be separated into four regional pods and will play 12 games against one another in NBA G League markets. The teams with the best winning percentage in each regional pod, along with the next four teams across the league with the best winning percentages, will play for the Showcase Cup Championship during the Winter Showcase.

RIP to Jerry Remy who passed after a decades-long battle with cancer. The iconic broadcaster and Somerset, MA native played 10 years in Major League Baseball with the Angels (1975-77) and Red Sox (1978-84). Remy was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2006, the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2017, National Sports Media Association’s Massachusetts Sportscaster of the Year in 2004 and 2019, and was a 2019 New Englander of the Year. In January 2020, Remy was awarded the Judge Emil Fuchs Memorial Award for long and meritorious service to baseball by the Boston Baseball Writers Association.

Coca-Cola is on the verge of picking of a controlling stake in BodyArmor in a deal valued at $8 billion, according to a Bloomberg report. Coca-Cola originally bought into BodyArmor in 2018, becoming the second-largest shareholder behind co-founder Mike Repole. BodyArmor’s partnerships include MLS, UFC, and the US Open as well as athletes such as Megan Rapinoe, James Harden, Mike Trout, Naomi Osaka, Dustin Johnson, and Mookie Betts.


Colorado reports that bettors delivered a record $408 million into Colorado’s online and retail sportsbooks in September, marking the 10th time in 17 months of sports betting that the state’s sportsbooks have posted a record high handle, according to PlayColorado. “It is no surprise that a new monthly record would come given the Broncos start, overall enthusiasm for the NFL’s return, influx of new online apps, and the number of games played by Colorado, Colorado State and Air Force,” said Ian St. Clair, analyst for PlayColorado.com. “Maybe more remarkably, though, is just how short-lived this record will likely be. This will be a very lucrative fall for the state’s sportsbooks.”


ONE Esports locked in a slate of partnerships that include insurance company FWD, Marriott International’s travel program, Marriott Bonvoy, and McDonald’s Philippines. The partnership between ONE Esports and FWD will see FWD sponsor this year’s Mobile Legends Professional League Invitational in Indonesia, where the top teams across Southeast Asia compete to be the region’s best. Wisdom Gaming and Riot Games announced a continued partnership for the Teamfight Tactics competitive tournament circuit in North America. As part of the partnership, Wisdom will be producing broadcasts and handling tournament organization in North America on behalf of Riot for the entirety of TFT Gizmos & Gadgets (Set 6), leading up to the TFT Gizmos & Gadgets World Championship in 2022. The BNC x AVGL Autumn Anarchy collegiate event wrapped up with record numbers as 1,200+ students and 400+ participating colleges competed. Bally Sports South studio analyst Terry Crisp announced that this will be his final season covering the Nashville Predators for the network. “It was not a hard decision for us because it has been such a great trip,” said Crisp. “We’ve had so much in our hockey life and coming to Nashville was one of the best decisions we ever made.
