Music superstar Taylor Swift will headline Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015. The bi-coastal celebration, which begins airing live at 8p on ABC from New York’s Times Square, will include special performances and coverage of New Year’s celebrations from around the globe. “We already have secured an unprecedented number of music acts, culminating with a Times Square performance by Taylor, the biggest superstar in music today,” says host and executive producer Seacrest.

IN THE NEWS

Brad Siegel is stepping down as Vice Chairman of Up, the cabler he launched in 2004 as Gospel Music Channel. The cable veteran, who spent 10 years with Turner Broadcasting, has decided to move on to new ventures. The Atlanta-based company will be restructured as a result of his departure.

Danielle Dellorto, CNN’s Senior Medical Producer, joins the list of executives departing CNN, as part of its Turner 2020 downsizing. She announced the news on Facebook, noting that she is slated to leave on November 7 and is heading to the West Coast for “my next chapter.”

Former Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings will be featured as a contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on Friday, November 14 and Monday, November 17. Jennings will take on the challenge as part of Millionaire’s Guinness World Records Edition theme week, as he is the Former Guinness World Records Title-Holder for the Largest Cash Prize Won on a TV Game Show. In November 2004, Jennings won 74 games in a row on Jeopardy!, defeating 149 opponents and winning $2,520,700. Unlike his previous game show experience, Jennings will answer 14 written trivia questions with the help of three lifelines — Ask the Audience, Jump the Question and Plus One.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

The CW is teaming with NCIS star Mark Harmon to develop Shakespeare’s Sisters, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Set in 1590s London, the show follows young Will Shakespeare’s rise to prominence as he also finds himself caught in a deadly conflict among three witches and Queen Elizabeth. Scott Sullivan (NCIS: Los Angeles, King & Maxwell) will pen the script for CBS Television Studios.

ABC is developing Wire In The Blood, an adaptation ofthe British psychological crime dramaof the same name and based on characters created by Scottish novelist/crime writer Val McDermid.
It follows police detective Elizabeth Chase and unconventional clinical psychologist Dr. Tony Hill.  A.M. Homes (The L Word) will write the U.S. version.

COMING UP

Oxygen premieres My Crazy Love on Tuesday, October 28. “This comedic series is inspired by our vulnerabilities and quest for love. These over-the-top, yet relatable stories being shared by real people is what connects directly with Oxygen’s young, female viewers,” says Rod Aissa, Senior Vice President of Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media.

Great American Country and NFL legend Jerry Rice are heading to the gridiron in the cable pilot Friday Night Impossible. Currently in production, the pilot features Rice working with the Irvington, Alabama, Alma Bryant Hurricanes, who are still reeling from their loss in the first round of last season’s state playoffs. He’ll meet the coach, assess the team, and train with the players, arming the Hurricanes with the tools necessary to be winners. The pilot is planned to air in early 2015.

Disson Skating and ABC are teaming up to return to the ice for the 25th year in the Colgate Skating Series. The Musselman’s Apple Sauce Family Skating Tribute, featuring skaters performing with their children, premieres Sunday, November 23 at 4p. Skating parents include Nancy Kerrigan, Ekaterina Gordeeva, Ilia Kulik, and Kurt Browning. The Pandora Unforgettable Holiday Moments on Ice debuts Sunday, November 30. Skaters include: Meryl Davis, Charlie White, Brian Boitano and Andrei Khvalko.

Basketball superstar and wildlife advocate Yao Ming brings viewers closer to Africa’s widespread poaching epidemic on with Saving Africa’s Giants with Yao Ming, airing Tuesday, November 18 at 10p on Animal Planet.

CASTING

Malese Jow (The Vampire Diaries, Star-Crossed) is joining CW‘s The Flash in a recurring role. She’ll play DC Comics character Linda Park, Wally West’s new girlfriend.

Billy Burke will reprise his role as serial rapist/murderer Phillip Stroh from The Closer‘s August 2012 finale on TNT‘s Major Crimes. The character, who has been mentioned on Major Crimes, resurfaces on the last two episodes of Season 3, slated to air Monday, January 12 and Monday, January 19.

Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) has been cast in Syfy’s miniseries adaptation of Childhood’s End, which follows the peaceful invasion of Earth by the Overlords. He’ll play Karellen, the Overlords ambassador. The project is set to premiere in 2015.

WeatherNation TV, Inc., the multi-format local, regional and national television weather news service, joins WBFF FOX45 to broadcast 24/7 weather news on digital TV channel 45.2, Comcast TV Channel 205 and Verizon Channel 465 to Baltimore viewers.

Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court will air November sweeps specials, including Multiple Men Friday, beginning Friday, October 31, and Watch One, Get One Tuesdays beginning Tuesday, November 4.
