Dave Chappelle special “The Closer,” which has drawn fire for jokes about the trans community, will not be pulled from Netflix. The streamer does not allow titles that incite hate or violence, wrote Netflix Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos in a company memo, “and we don’t believe ‘The Closer’ crosses that line.” Sarandos noted that Chappelle’s last special, “Sticks & Stones,” also controversial, “was our most watched, stickiest and most award winning stand-up special to-date. As with our other talent, we work hard to support their creative freedom – even though this means there will always be content on Netflix that some people believe is harmful, like ‘Cuties,’ ‘365 Days,’ ’13 Reasons Why’ or ‘My Orthodox Life.’”
End-of-year comedy special “Yearly Departed” will return for a second installment, hosted by Yvonne Orji (“Insecure”). The all-female line-up will riff on 2021 topics like Hot Vaxx Summer, Hermit Life, and Ignoring the Climate Crisis.

Amazon has changed its back to the office policy for its corporate workforce, allowing individual teams to determine whether a full-time return or mostly remote work is optimal. “At a company of our size, there is no one-size-fits-all approach for how every team works best,” said Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in a note to employees. “For our corporate roles, instead of specifying that people work a baseline of three days a week in the office, we’re going to leave this decision up to individual teams.” Amazon’s earlier policy required employees to be present in person for at least part of the week.
