Netflix ordered spinoff “That Nineties Show,” with Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp reprising their “That Seventies Show” roles as Red and Kitty Forman. Smith and Rupp will also serve as executive producers, alongside the comedy’s creators, Gregg Mettler, Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner and their daughter, Lindsay Turner.
HBO Max greenlit “Atlas of the Heart,” based on the book by Dr. Brene Brown, Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connections and the Language of Human Experience. Brown will executive produce the eight-part unscripted series for Weird Lucy Productions alongside Jesse Ignjatovic, Evan Prager, Barb Bialkowski and Jared Morell for Den of Thieves. The first four weeks of football season, NFL games are averaging 17.3 million viewers on TV and digital, up 17% over last year and up 3% over pre-pandemic 2019. The top 21 rated shows since the start of the season were all NFL games, topped by Tampa Bay Buccaneer Tom Brady’s return to New England, which averaged 26.7 million viewers.
It appears celebrity chef Bobby Flay is leaving Food Network after 27 years. He and the network were reportedly unable to come to terms on a new contract. Flay has starred in numerous series for the net, from “Grillin’ and Chillin’” to “Beat Bobby Flay.”
Also unable to reach a deal on a new contract – yet – are IATSE and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. Five days of negotiations last week ended in a stalemate, with talks resuming today. In a memo to union members, IATSE President Matthew Loeb said negotiations will end within “days not weeks,” with a strike that would shut down shooting on TV and films. Pay TV channels, which operate under a separate contract, are not affected.
C-SPAN drew fire for covering Donald Trump’s “Campaign 2024” rally in Iowa on Saturday evening. Critics online questioned why C-SPAN, which covers proceedings in the House of Representatives and Senate, would air a gathering for a candidate who has not officially announced yet.
“Talk the talk, but more importantly, walk the walk.
