The International Olympic Committee and The Dow Chemical Company, a Worldwide Olympic Partner, announced that Dow will now become the Official Carbon Partner of the IOC. The new partnership will seek to deliver “an innovative global carbon mitigation program to compensate carbon emissions from the IOC’s daily operations, as well as other projects to be identified within the Olympic Movement.” “Through Olympic Agenda 2020, the IOC recognizes that we have both an opportunity and a duty to promote sustainability awareness and drive action on a global stage,” said IOC President Thomas Bach. “In addition to being an important element in achieving key objectives of the IOC’s sustainability strategy, our partnership with Dow will raise awareness and provide education on this important topic, alter existing business operations, and create sustainable legacies.”

The deal, negotiated by AEG Global Partnerships, also designates both StubHub and AXS as T-Mobile Arena as Official Founding Partners of T-Mobile Arena. In addition, customers will have the ability to link to their StubHub and AXS accounts, access their available tickets, post them for resale, purchase authenticated tickets and scan into events at T-Mobile Arena, from the StubHub or AXS Flash Seats Mobile apps for iOS or Android.
The Canadian Football League and NFL launched a flag football program that will look to engage hundreds of kids across the country. The program for Canadian youth will culminate in a national flag football tournament during the week of the 105th Grey Cup presented by Shaw in Ottawa, with the winner travelling to Pro Bowl week in Orlando, FL to participate in the NFL FLAG Championships. The CFL/NFL Flag Football initiative will teach kids the fundamentals of the game and promote physical activity. Alongside skills development, participants will receive lessons in teamwork, sportsmanship, and other lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field.
NIKE and the NBA are teaming up for three new innovations: the Nike NBA Connected Jersey, the first NBA jersey that gives the wearer an all-access pass into the world of their favorite team and players; Statement Edition uniforms; and the Nike Therma Flex Showtime Warm-up Jacket, the first hooded jacket to be worn on the court during gametime. Each adult-sized Nike NBA Connected Jersey will have an embedded NFC chip that will launch real-time team and player content such as pregame arrival footage, highlight packages and top players’ favorite music playlists – all on the jersey owner’s mobile device.
Reliance Games inked a multi-year agreement with WWE to develop a mobile game featuring WWE Superstars and Legends. Currently in development, WWE Mayhem will include arcade action with signature moves enhanced by unlockable content when used in conjunction with items from a forthcoming Mattel action figure line. “WWE Mayhem brings action and entertainment for the entire family with simple gameplay mechanics for casual players and deep progression elements for core gamers,” said Casey Collins, WWE Executive Vice President, Consumer Products. “Reliance’s history of working with world-class brands and their expertise in free-to-play mobile gaming made them the natural choice to partner with on this exciting new game.”

DreamHack reports that its DreamHack Masters Malmo 2017 programming drew over 92 million started streams online and over 31 million unique views across all platforms to become the most viewed DreamHack tournament to date in the five days of competition. “Last year’s edition of DreamHack Masters Malmö was a breathtaking experience and set a new event standard for us. Allied Esports opened the doors to its second dedicated esports arena in China, the Allied Esports SEG Arena in Shenzhen. The new arena was built in partnership with e-commerce leader Shenzhen SEG and measures at nearly 22,000-square-feet, offering a multi-use production studio, 168 top-tier gaming stations and an interactive VR experience. The venue will serve as a one-stop-shop for large and small-scale productions, including professional and amateur tournaments, as well as casual daily use.
