Marriott International and Courtyard, aka the Official Hotel of the NFL, detailed activations plans for season seven as a league partner, anchored by engagements that include launching the third-annual Courtyard Super Bowl Sleepover Contest as well as the creation of a “first-of-its-kind” 4D virtual reality dome, being put on display for media and consumers in NYC on 9/28. Athletes Justin Tuck and Rashad Jennings will be on0site to encourage fans to enter the contest and help Courtyard show off the dome.
Sandwich chain Jersey Mike’s is launching a tailgating experience promotion for college football fans at 17 campuses through its CFB Tailgate Sweepstakes. One winner from each of 17 universities will be selected to receive eight tickets to a regular season home football game and Jersey Mike’s catering for the winner and his/her guests for a tailgate party prior to the game. Participating schools include Arizona State University, Duke University, Northwestern University, Rutgers University, San Diego State University, Texas Christian University, The Ohio State University, UCLA, University of Colorado, University of Florida, University of Georgia, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, University of South Carolina, University of Southern California, University of Tennessee and the University of Washington. Delta locked in new sponsorship agreements with the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United and Mercedes-Benz Stadium and will now serve as the Official Airline for all three brands for the next five years through the 2021 season. As a part of the agreement with Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the South Champions Club in the new stadium has been named the Delta Sky360˚ Club. In addition, significant elements of the partnerships include in-stadium LED advertising and IPTV exposure, as well as unique digital and social content opportunities.
FloSports is now launching FloBikes.com, a new site dedicated to live and on-demand coverage of competitive cycling. The site will offer fans access to top-tier domestic and international races, breaking news, highlights, original documentaries, and more. In tandem with the launch, FloSports announced the hiring of Ian Dille, former professional cyclist and national cycling journalist, as senior editor of FloBikes.com. Coverage begins with Clif Bar CrossVegas on Sept. 20.
Time Inc. and Coors Light are teaming up to leverage VR tech for new sports viewing experiences beginning with this weekend’s battle between Texas and USC. Experiences are available to fans of both teams everywhere via Time Inc.’s LIFE VR app, which will take Trojan fans to the field at LA Memorial Coliseum to see what it’s like inside the huddle and part of the action, while Texas fans will get behind-the-scenes access to Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium. The LIFE VR experiences were created as part of Coors Light’s new year-round loyalty program, Coors Light XP.
