Buffalo Wild Wings is making a big move into sports wagering, announcing a multiyear deal with MGM Resorts International and its sports betting venture Roar Digital where odds and point spreads will appear on screens at select Buffalo Wild Wings. The companies will launch Picks and Props, a free-to-play, mobile-only football game that mimics sports betting with point spreads and prop bets and rewards winners with prizes, including trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. The MGM-Buffalo Wild Wings’ partnership is focused on opportunities in states that enter the expanding sports betting market, according to ESPN. The duo will also test a program this year in New Jersey that gives restaurant customers perks on the new BetMGM app.
“As the largest sports bar in the country, Buffalo Wild Wings has the opportunity to pioneer sports gaming experiences for fans, and we are taking the first critical step on that journey through our partnership with BetMGM,” Buffalo Wild Wings president Lyle Tick said in an announcement.

Lino Garcia, who served as founding General Manager of ESPN Deportes TV, Radio and Digital, will oversee a new sports radio network that will hit the airwaves on Monday following ESPN Deportes Radio’s final transmission. The network, titled Unanimo Deportes Radio, will retain most of the ESPN Deportes talent from its airwaves, who will be hosting shows in their normal timeslots. According to Garcia, continuity of content, talent and schedule is designed to minimize disruption for affiliated radio stations, their advertisers and their listeners. In addition, key operational staff and management will continue with Unanimo Deportes.
Major League Baseball and NNT cemented a multi-year technology partnership, making NTT the “Official MLB Fan Experience Partner for Ultra Reality Viewing” and “Title Sponsor of MLB Network Ballpark Cam.” NTT becomes the first Japan based information technology company to be named an official MLB partner in the United States and will be highlighted by NTT’s Ultra Reality Viewing to create new experiences for baseball fans. NTT and MLB will collaborate to create a new baseball fan experience using the highly advanced solution from NTT called Ultra Reality Viewing.
After 10 days of ESPN’s live coverage of the US Open, the network is now pulling an average 1.0 overnight Nielsen rating for a markup of 25% from 0.8 a year ago. Through Tuesday, all key demos are up and the increase in viewership includes a 23% rise among female viewers and 11% among viewers age 18-34.
BTN unveiled its 2019-20 television schedule for men’s and women’s basketball, lining up nearly 200 total games across the entire season. BTN carries at least 133 men’s basketball games, including 75 conference games and 10 Big Ten Tournament games, as well as at least 64 women’s basketball games, including four ACC-Big Ten Challenge matchups alongside 12 conference tournament games. Men’s nonconference play begins with a doubleheader on Nov. 5 as Michigan faces off against Appalachian State and Nebraska takes on UC-Riverside. The women’s non-conference schedule gets rolling on Dec. 4, with back-to-back doubleheaders in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
NBCSN opens season two of reality series Proving Grounds on Sunday at 7:30p with seven episodes on deck following the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series wrap up show Victory Lap from Indianapolis. The show will return to test a variety of cars from American-built to European exotics on a custom-built track in Southern California. Proving Grounds is hosted by NASCAR driver and NBC Sports analyst Parker Kligerman and automotive journalist Sam Smith, and features Sports Car Champion driver Leh Keen.
The Olympic Channel inked a media rights agreement with GAISF to show daily live streaming coverage of the inaugural World Urban Games Budapest 2019 from Sept. 13-15. “We are thrilled to work with GAISF to provide coverage of the inaugural World Urban Games to viewers around the world. As we continue to tell the stories on the road to Tokyo 2020, live streaming action on our global platform will enrich the viewer’s experience and provide additional exposure to these popular sports and to the athletes.”

The NFL and Reddit locked in a new partnership that will connect Reddit’s more than 330 million monthly active users directly with the NFL’s network of talent and personalities for a season of unique “Ask Me Anythings” and a video content series with first-to-market advertising opportunities for brands. The AMAs will feature members of the NFL community – from active players and NFL Legends, to  league and club representatives, behind-the-scenes playmakers and fans – who will engage directly with redditors to build community around the NFL and provide a more in-depth look at areas within the NFL ecosystem,
FedEx Corp., the Official Delivery Service Sponsor of the NFL, announced that the FedEx Air & Ground NFL Players of the Week and Players of the Year Awards will return for the 2019-2020 season. The fan-voted program highlights the week’s best quarterback and running back performances. Each week, FedEx donates $2,000 through FedEx Cares to the USO in the winning players’ names, totaling $4,000. These donations support USO Pathfinder, which provides resources and personalized services to assist service members and military spouses in their transition back to civilian life. Two-time FedEx Air NFL Player of the Year award winner Carson Palmer will return this season as program spokesperson.
The new NFL season will also see AT&T offer fans real 5G experiences that will kick off with the Dallas Cowboys season opener on Sept. 8 and run throughout the season. AT&T plans to offer fans four experiences powered by AT&T 5G+ where – through volumetric video – fans can interact with Dallas Cowboys players in 1) Hype Up Chants and 2) Hall of Heroes both on the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and 3) Pose with the Pros on the NETGEAR Nighthawk 5G Mobile Hotspot. The NHL iced in Yandex, one of Europe’s largest internet companies and the leading search provider in Russia, to carry all NHL games in Russia, via its streaming platform. The multiyear deal begins with the 2019-20 season, which opens on Wednesday, Oct. 2. “By partnering with the NHL, one of the world’s leading sports leagues, we can better connect some of hockey’s biggest fans with their favorite teams and players. We are delighted to work with the NHL to offer viewers in Russia a more accessible and innovative way to watch games for free,” says Leonid Savkov, Chief Commercial Officer of Yandex. “We are also excited to provide new opportunities for advertisers to reach millions of hockey fans viewing the games.”
The National Women’s Hockey League entered an exclusive streaming partnership with Twitch. The three-year agreement makes Twitch the exclusive live-streaming partner of the NWHL beginning with the 19-20 season on Oct. 5.  Twitch will stream all NWHL regular season, Isobel Cup Playoff and special event games. The league and Twitch will collaborate on innovative content that increases the deep connection between NWHL players and fans. Twitch will also work closely with the NWHL to provide new fan engagement opportunities that enhance the live game viewing experience. In addition, the NWHL is receiving a broadcast rights fee for the first time in its history
Vox Media’s SB Nation and DraftKings unveiled a multi-year editorial and technology partnership, DraftKings Nation with an immediate focus on the 2019 NFL season with plans to expand to cover the NBA, NCAA football and basketball, along with MLB and other sports. DraftKings Nation will provide original content, key insights, analysis and lifestyle coverage from all angles of daily fantasy and sports betting. “DraftKings’ partnership with SB Nation provides a new, best-in-class content destination for passionate, skin-in-the-game sports fans,” said Ezra Kucharz, chief business officer at DraftKings. “In addition to consumers being able to access expert analysis, this partnership gives advertisers, brands and marketers a new platform to reach highly engaged and coveted sports fans.”

MMA Promotion ONE Championship detailed plans for ONE Esports’ upcoming ONE Street Fighter Tokyo Challenge. Taking place at the Bellesalle Shibuya Garden on Oct. 6, the event will see two winners of the Open Community Tournament team up with Capcom Pro Tour Super Premier winner Bonchan to take on three other teams consisting of nine of Asia’s strongest Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition pros.
