A new media and entertainment report from Ernst & Young (EY), surveying 50 CFOs from leading companies, says that after six years of cost-cutting, CFOs are looking to grow – and they’re looking to digital. Even as they work to get a digital monetization model in place, 74 percent of those surveyed said the evolution of digital and online distribution was a priority for their companies, with 25 percent listing as their top priority. One big challenge? Persuading consumers to pay fair value for their content, said 58 percent of respondents.
At the convention of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists on Friday, MSNBC president Phil Griffin apologized for a Cinco de Mayo on-air incident, and vowed to improve diversity. “It was an embarrassment to me personally, and to the company,” said Griffin of the segment, in which Morning Joe producer Louis Burgdorf wore a sombrero and pretended to gulp tequila from a bottle during Way Too Early on the May 5 holiday.
History launched brand extension Planet H, a series of games on mobile app platforms for kids 7-11. “There is a void in the marketplace around high-quality, historically inspired content that is dynamic and engaging for kids,” said Dan Suratt, EVP, digital media and brand & content licensing, A+E Networks. “Planet H is launching mobile first, but it is a long-term initiative with great potential to reach children with an array of content and products.”
