Jane Pauley‘s getting up early this month. The former Today host fills in for vacationing Charles Osgood on CBS News Sunday Morning starting August 10, then spends a week in Gayle King‘s CBS This Morning seat starting Monday, August 11. Pauley joined CBS News Sunday Morning as a contributor in April.

IN THE NEWS

Not swayed by Aereo‘s contention that it is "figuratively bleeding to death," a U.S. District Court declined to grant the streamer-of-broadcast-signals’ emergency motion to be deemed a cable company, which would enable it to retransmit broadcast content for a low fee and get back in business. CEO Chet Kanojia said a delay in the proceedings would incur "staggering costs without accruing any revenue."

The first table read for season eight of The Big Bang Theory is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6, one week later than planned, as negotiations with the five original cast members continue. Premiere date for the CBS comedy is Monday, September 22 at 8p.

WWE is cutting 7 percent of its workforce, or 50-60 jobs. The move comes after a net loss of $14.5 million in the second quarter attributed to the February launch of the company’s online-subscription service. WWE Network added 33,000 subscribers since April, for a less-than-expected total of 700,000.

Today‘s getting on the live musical bandwagon with an 18-minute show penned by Kathie Lee Gifford, the co-host announced on the morning show Friday. Called "Not Today and Tomorrow’s Not Looking Good Either," the production will feature the Today anchors and crew, as well as special guest, former Regis and Kathie Lee host Regin Philbin. Expected airdate is sometime before the net’s Peter Pan event in December.

NBC renewed comedy Undateable for a 10-ep season two. "Overexcited to do 2nd season of Undateable on NBC," tweeted exec producer Bill Lawrence.

The NCTC and Disney struck a multi-year distribution agreement to deliver Disney’s content to the cable co-op’s participating customers across TVs, computers, smartphones, tablets, gaming consoles and connected devices. As part of the deal, the NCTC will add authenticated WATCH and VOD products, Fusion, the upcoming SEC network, Longhorn network, ESPN Goal Line, ESPN Buzzer Beater and ESPN Bases Loaded.

A water main break near UCLA that flooded the Pauley Pavilion forced the relocation of the Teen Choice 2014 awards. Event telecast by Fox will now take place at the Shrine Auditorium Sunday, August 10 at 8p. Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) will co-host, joining host Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf).

Univision was the number one network in primetime among A18-49 and A18-34 for the second consecutive July sweep. The net also boasted more programs in the top 20 on all of television among A18-34 compared to the Big Four. "The fact that our network was able to maintain the number one position in primetime among these key demographics for two consecutive July sweeps as more networks air first-run shows validates our strong position in the industry," said net CEO Randy Falco.

HGTV had its highest-rated July ever, delivering an average prime rating of .54 among P25-54, up 8 percent in the demo and 9 percent among W25-54 over last year. The lifestyle net also ranked as number 7 in cable among P25-54 and second among W25-54, its highest monthly cable rankings ever. What next? "We have no plans to take our feet off the accelerator," said Kathleen Finch, president of HGTV and DIY.

Sister net DIY achieved its most watched July prime ever among P25-54 (70,000 impressions) and M25-54 (37,000 impressions), audience growth of 4 percent and 12 percent over last July.
