Instagram has rolled out a new option allowing users to add music to their profile by tapping “edit profile,” scrolling down to a new “Music” option, and tapping to add and search for an artist or song. Sabrina Carpenter launched the feature to share her new single, “Taste.”

Halliburton suffered a cyberattack last week that forced it to shut down some of its internal systems. The US oil giant said it became aware on Wednesday that an “unauthorized third party gained access to certain of its systems,” and that it “activated its cybersecurity response plan and launched an investigation internally with the support of external advisers to assess and remediate the unauthorized activity.”

Global watermarking company Verance announced the availability of technology to combat deep fakes and AI-generated disinformation using open watermarking standards. The solution enables social media platforms to authenticate broadcast content in user uploads and uses Verance Aspect to enable broadcast content to be authenticated by social media platforms, devices and disinformation analysts. Using industry standards developed and published by ATSC and C2PA, broadcast adopters of Verance Aspect can enable recipients of their content to determine whether it has been modified, as well as to locate an authentic version of the published asset.

About 97% of consumers consider long-form content to be the most premium and that watching long-form premium content elicits positive emotions, with almost 90% saying it’s a good use of their time, according to a study from DirecTV Advertising and Publicis Media. The research – “Premium, Defined: Long-Form Content Drives Ad Success” – also found that 62% of those surveyed appreciate that brands advertising in long-form premium content make it more affordable to view, and two-in-three report having purchased a product they’ve seen advertised within long-form premium content.

NBCUniversal struck a deal with TalkShopLive that creates shoppable livestreams featuring NBCU talent. First up was Paris Hilton, who on Thursday talked up her new album. Viewers could purchase autographed copies of the record, along with Hilton’s book, Paris: The Memoir. The simulcast was available across TalkShopLive and E! and Hilton feeds. “The audience scale we can deliver on a daily basis is incredible, so to expand our ecommerce footprint with TalkShopLive and bring shoppable livestreams to life across our social and digital ecosphere is an exciting next chapter for us,” said Jenny Depper, SVP of E! About 69% of LGBTQ+ consumers are more likely to try grocery or household items that visibly support the LGBTQ+ community, according to a study conducted by LGBTQ+ streaming network Revry and Nielsen. The study – “Revry LGBTQ+ Streaming Audience Insights powered by Nielsen” – also found that 66% of LGBTQ+ viewers are more inclined to purchase from brands that advertise in LGBTQ+ inclusive programming or feature LGBTQ+ individuals in their campaigns. In addition, 89% of LGBTQ+ consumers report making grocery and household item purchases daily to weekly and ads in the Grocery and Household category in the second quarter had an average Completion Rate of 99.18%, above Revry’s benchmark of 95%. Both Grocery/beverage and household items had a higher overall completion rate above Revry’s benchmark at 99.10%.

PilotDesk and LG Ad Solutions have entered into a long-term agreement to enhance advertising inventory management through the YieldPilot platform. LG Ad Solutions is using PilotDesk’s YieldPilot to automate and optimize its advertising inventory, enhancing operational efficiency. “After a four-month trial period, LG Ad Solutions was able to derive incremental revenue from its existing demand partners and allow for their team to focus on more strategic needs for their clients, resulting in the shift from a trial period to a long-term partnership with PilotDesk,” said Joe Hirsch, CEO of PilotDesk.

Viamedia announced a strategic partnership with Minerva Networks, a provider of advanced entertainment delivery solutions. The collaboration will integrate Viamedia’s Parrot Ad Decisioning System into Minerva’s platforms, aimed at enhancing programmatic ad capabilities for MVPDs and broadcasters. Viamedia’s Parrot ADS software simplifies the advertising process by allowing a single order to cover both linear and streaming inventories, combining them into one invoice.

Claritas released a new AI Broadcast Attribution solution that builds upon Claritas’ existing broadcast attribution solution, and incorporates AI into its framework to provide marketers with enhanced insights on the effectiveness of broadcast campaigns. Additionally, it facilitates data-driven optimization of future campaigns and aligns broadcast strategies with digital counterparts. “Precise broadcast measurement, advanced real-time analytics, and insights with consistency across platforms is something the ecosystem has needed and only Claritas could deliver at this depth,” said Mike Nazzaro, CEO, Claritas. “Moving forward, marketers can now count on their broadcast strategies and buys to deliver the strongest ROI.”

tvScientific announced patent approval for a new layer of their CTV advertising optimization technology. The tech is aimed at maximizing advertiser-declared outcomes across campaigns, including cost per sale, cost per app install, and more, and provide ML and AI-based insights.

STREAMING

A single exposure to an interactive ad leads to +36% stronger unaided brand recall than a single exposure to a standard video unit, according to Brightline study, The TV Ad Revolution 2024, which found four-fifths of viewers were able to correctly identify the advertiser. When paired together, the two ad formats lead to significant lifts in all three memory recall metrics, including 58% stronger unaided recall and 47% higher message recall.

Restaurant chain Chick-Fil-A plans to launch its own streaming platform with its own slate of original programming. Deadline reports the fast-food giant has been working with several production companies to produce family-friendly shows, especially those in the unscripted space, including a game show from Glassman Media (“The Wall”) and Sugar23 (“13 Reasons Why”). The restaurant chain also is looking to license and acquire additional content.

Bitmovin, a provider of video streaming software solutions, has been selected by Mercado Libre, the Latin American e-commerce and technology company, to launch streaming service Mercado Play. Mercado Libre hosts an online commerce and payments ecosystem in Latin America.

In the wake of a federal judge blocking the release of the streaming sports channel Venu from Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox DirecTV chief content officer Rob Thun called for more flexibility in video packaging, adding that it is up to programmers to allow that to happen.In a blog post, Thun said while DirecTV disagrees with Venu’s strategy, it highlights the need for offering consumers “skinnier” packages of not just sports but local channels, entertainment, news, family and movie genres. “DirecTV believes that programmers need to collaborate with pay TV distributors to deliver entertainment options that align with consumer preferences,” Thun said, by offering flexible packages, lower-priced alternatives and an aggregated experience. “Pay TV subscribers have been declining because of our collective failure to evolve to meet consumer preferences, not due to external forces. Without fundamental change, costs will continue to soar, consumer satisfaction will erode, and the entire ecosystem will suffer,” Thun said.
