Utz Quality Foods, the Official Salty Snack of Major League Baseball, announced that the company will now serve as the presenting sponsor of the 2019 National League Division Series. In its second season partnering with MLB, Utz is beefing up its activation around the sport with advertising, promotions, sampling and a range of co-branded products.
 
“Utz is proud to be partnering with Major League Baseball for a second season and our first post- season sponsorship,” said Tom Flocco, President and COO of Utz Quality Foods, LLC. “This is a great opportunity to excite MLB fans during the peak season with the time-honored tradition of watching baseball and enjoying their favorite snack foods. PROGRAMMING

Sunday’s final round of the AIG Women’s British Open notched a Total Audience Delivery of 1.188 million average viewers per minute across NBC Sports’ platforms, for a rise of 23% vs. 2018 and ranking as the most-watched final round telecast at this event in 13 years. Those numbers also mark the most-watched LPGA Tour telecast on any network to-date in 2019 as well as the most-watched LPGA Tour telecast since the final round of the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open. Saturday’s viewership on NBC also becomes the most-watched third round telecast of any LPGA Tour event in 2019 with 702,000 average viewers. Across four days of coverage, 1.9 million minutes were streamed, making the AIG Women’s British Open the most-streamed women’s golf event in 2019.
 
Meanwhile, FOX Sports reports that Saturday’s PBC Fight Night main event averaged 1.727 million viewers, according to Nielsen to rank as the most-watch sports event of the day and up 38% over last year’s comparable PBC event. The entire three-fight telecast reeled in 1.301 million viewers on average.
 
The NFL locked in Orlando to once again play host to the Pro Bowl, taking place on Jan. 26, 2020 and featuring the traditional AFC vs. NFC format, carried on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and simulcast on ABC.
 
ESPN announced that Cletus the Van/Caroline recording artist Judah & the Lion will provide the musical backdrop for the company’s 2019-20 College Football Season. The newest single from the band – “Let Go” – will serve as the anthem for ESPN’s coverage, which kicks off on August 24. This marks the fifth year ESPN has collaborated with Universal Music Group. “College football is back. For fans, teams and players, it is about letting it all go for the wild ride of the season,” said Emeka Ofodile, ESPN vice president of marketing. “Judah & the Lion and their single ‘Let Go’ captures that emotion and story to a ‘T’. We can’t wait for college football to start.”
 
Lots of documentary news yesterday. ESPN announced that new ABC docuseries Backstory will debut on Aug. 18 at 1p with Serena vs. The Umpire, a look at “Serena Williams’ intense clash with chair umpire Carlos Ramos during her loss to Naomi Osaka in the 2018 US Open women’s final.”
 
Meanwhile, ahead of the new Premier League season, NBC Sports debuts its original YouTube series, produced by the NBCUniversal Digital Lab, “Crossroads,” which explores “pivotal moments in Premier League history and the potential wide-ranging implications of a different result or outcome.” The eight episode series if hosted by Aaron West, with the first episode analyzing the hypothetical situation around what could have evolved if Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero had not scored on the final day of the 2011-12 season, which lifted his team to their first ever Premier League title.
 
The upcoming ACC Network will chronicle the Virginia men’s basketball team’s run to the 2019 NCAA Championship with Unbelievable: Virginia’s Improbable Path To A Title. The one-hour documentary will air this fall.
 
CBS is on deck to carry highlights of World TeamTennis’ 2019 regular season and playoffs following with the recent WTT season decided this past Saturday by a single game. The one-hour finals encore and season highlight show, GEICO Presents World TeamTennis, will run on Saturday at 1:30p.

Discount Tire renewed its ties to Team Penske, enhancing their presence on the No. 2 Ford Mustang, driven by Brad Keselowski. The multi-year agreement will see Discount Tire as the primary sponsor for five additional NASCAR Cup Series races, including the Daytona 500, the Brickyard 400 and the season finale in Phoenix, for a total of 15 events overall. Discount Tire will continue to be an associate sponsor of Team Penske drivers Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano in the NASCAR Cup Series, along with NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Austin Cindric.
 
The Western & Southern Open announced a record number of partners for its 2019 event, with more than 50 companies sponsoring the August 10-18 tournament. Cincinnati-based Western & Southern Financial Group continues their title sponsorship for an 18th year, while new partners include Porsche, Body Armor, Captain Morgan, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, First Watch, Frutta Bowls, InterContinental Hotels Group – Holiday Inn Express, Kim Crawford, Larabar, Motorola and Weatherman Umbrella.
 
Barstool Sports teamed with New Amsterdam Vodka to launch The Pink Whitney, a Pink Lemonade flavored vodka. As presenting sponsor of the #1 hockey podcast, Spittin’ Chiclets by Barstool Sports, New Amsterdam Vodka asked the hosts of the show, two former NHL-ers Ryan Whitney and Paul Bissonnette to talk about their favorite vodka drinks when Whitney said a Pink Whitney made of vodka and pink lemonade. The new Pink Lemonade flavored Vodka drink with New Amsterdam Vodka will hit stores, bars and arenas in September.
 
The Los Angeles Dodgers named Postmates as their exclusive On-Demand Delivery and Pickup Partner, and announced that they will incorporate Postmates Live into the concession stands at Dodger Stadium. There, fans will be able to place their Dodger Stadium concessions order from their seats and pick it up when ready at designated Postmates Pickup locations, with no added fees.
 
 
DIGITAL, DATA & TECH

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced a bundling of all three of its streaming services. The trio of Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu will be offered together for $12.99 a month.
 
YouTube TV reportedly agreed a carriage deal to distribute the ACC Network. The channel is slated to launch on Aug. 22.
 
Ubisoft announced that WWE Superstars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, John Cena, Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, and Xavier Woods will join Brawlhalla as “Epic Crossovers” in a special SummerSlam themed in-game event that begins today. Brawldown includes a ring, breakable tables, and fun rope physics. WWE Superstar Epic Crossovers will still be available for purchase after the SummerSlam in-game event concludes.

In addition, the league saw Rob Carolla head up communications for XFL Dallas, Michelle DeLancy has joining XFL Seattle as senior director of marketing, while Pete Tenney comes aboard as director of content production and operations.
