A radical shift in the college sports landscape sees USC and UCLA, two of the Pac-12’s flagship programs, reportedly planning to leave the conference for the Big Ten as early as 2024, according to multiple reports, which state that the process is already underway and an announcement could come within the next 24 hours. The Mercury News first reported the news. The Big Ten is poised to announce new media deals in the coming months.

The 2022 ESPYS Presented by Capital One landed NBA Champion and Finals MVP Stephen Curry as its host this year, with the honors running July 20 at 8p on ABC. “Steph has long been one of the brightest stars in the sports constellation, and we’re thrilled to have him share his passion for sports, his wit and his boundless talent with The ESPYS,” said Rob King, Executive Editor-At-Large ESPN Content. “Whether shining on the court, engaging with fans on social platforms or demonstrating a commitment to communities through varied philanthropic acts, he’s a singular performer who’ll undoubtedly add luster to our celebration of some of this year’s most compelling moments.”
The NBA announced that the salary cap for the 2022-23 season will hit $123.655 with the Tax Level is $150.267 million. The minimum team salary, which is set at 90% of the Salary Cap, is $111.290 million for the 2022-23 season.
NBA TV’s Summer League coverage will offer fans more than 40 live game telecasts beginning Saturday and include games from NBA 2K23 Summer League in Las Vegas, Salt Lake City Summer League presented by America First Credit Union and California Classic Summer League in San Francisco. Coverage opens with the Kings/Warriors on Saturday at 7:30p. The network’s on-site commentators in Las Vegas will include analysts Isiah Thomas, Greg Anthony, Jim Jackson, Brendan Haywood, Steve Smith and Sam Mitchell. Matt Winer, Stephanie Ready, Chris Miles, Jared Greenberg, Meghan McPeak, Noah Eagle and Michael Grady will share play-by-play responsibilities. FOX Sports named soccer commentator Jacqui Oatley as part of the network’s FIFA World Cup broadcast team as a new play-by-play announcer for this year’s World Cup tournament. “Jacqui’s passion for the game and experience in calling matches at the highest level is truly remarkable and as we began evaluating play-by-play announcers, we knew we wanted Jacqui to be part of our team,” said David Neal, Executive Producer of FIFA World Cup on FOX and Vice President of Production for FOX Sports. “We’re thrilled to have Jacqui joining FOX Sports in Qatar and look forward to hearing her insights when the tournament begins on Monday, November 21.”
LEARFIELD announced the return of College Football Saturday Night live game broadcast for the 2022 season, with Mike Golic Jr. as analyst and Sloane Martin handling play-by-play. The company will produce and distribute 13 marquee games on the weekly Saturday slate, with a selected bowl game to be announced later. LEARFIELD will deliver the live audio to more than 120 radio stations, SiriusXM and The Varsity Network app. Fans also can watch Golic Jr. and Martin call the game from inside the stadium via on-demand Booth Cam at Facebook Live or YouTube Live at College Football Saturday Night from LEARFIELD.
MAVTV Motorsports Network and FloSports announced a new live streaming partnership that will deliver MAVTV Plus live content to fans through FloRacing. All live programming that previously aired on the MAVTV Plus app will be now hosted by FloSports under the “MAVTV on FloRacing” banner. FloRacing and MAVTV Plus will begin co-streaming MAVTV Plus programming to their respective subscribers through midnight on Tuesday, July 26. Starting July 27, MAVTV Plus programming will be exclusively streamed through FloRacing.
ESPN delivers the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog-Eating Contest live on Monday, July 4, with programming running from 10:45a am with the women’s competition on ESPN3 and runs to the conclusion of the event, expected to be at 1p. ESPN3 will also feature ISO cams on Top-ranked Female Miki Sudo and World Champion Joey Chestnut during their respective competitions, in addition to full coverage of both the women’s and men’s events. Riot Games announced that the League of Legends World Championship will host their semifinals in Atlanta at State Farm Arena. The semifinals originally were set to take place at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, but due to COVID-19 impacting the viability of securing multi-entry visas to the U.S. within necessary timelines, Riot made the decision to move the location to provide a clear path for teams to complete in all stages of Worlds. The new city schedule for Worlds 2022 sees Play-Ins in Mexico City; Groups & Quarterfinals in New York City; Semifinals: in Atlanta and the Finals in San Francisco.
Meanwhile, BLAST Premier’s biggest event of the year will take place in Abu Dhabi in December – as eight of teams compete for the prestigious World Final trophy, a slice of the $1 million prize pool and a chance to claim bragging rights as the champions of Counter-Strike in 2022. Hosted at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, the BLAST Premier World Final will run from Dec. 14-18 and will feature the world’s biggest esports teams, battling for glory and a share of the tournament organiser’s biggest prize pool of the year.
