Tracy Morgan (30 Rock), critically injured in a six-car pileup in New Jersey Saturday morning, will have a job when he’s recovered. FX Networks and FX Productions issued a statement regarding the FXX comedy starring Morgan that was supposed to start production in August, saying, "We will support Tracy and his family in every way possible throughout his recovery… his show will be waiting for him."

IN THE NEWS

ABC is shutting down its Live Well digital network by mid-January 2015. An email to affiliates from Rebecca Campbell, president of the ABC owned stations, and Peggy Allen, VP of Live Well, explained, "We want to maximize our investment in our core local news brands in the digital space." Veria Living CEO Eric Sherman had something to say about that: "There surely is no shortage of options for those interested in adult-themed and salacious programming, yet once again the media world is turning its back on those who desire positive, wellness content," said Sherman in a statement. "Veria Living continues to offer more programming in this genre than anyone else in the business – a fact that has resonated with both our distribution and advertising partners."

The scuffle’s over between AT&T and Al Jazeera. The companies "reached a settlement in principle," according to a June 4 court filing in Delaware, and are dismissing claims against each other over AT&T’s refusal to carry the cable news net on its pay-TV service. The settlement includes allowing Al Jazeera America onto AT&T’s U-verse, reports Bloomberg.

TV Land is partnering with book series Chicken Soup for the Soul to promote new comedy Jennifer Falls. As part of the campaign, which runs through June and will include on-air and digital components, Jaime Pressly‘s Falls character acts as a contributor for www.ChickenSoup.com.

Dr. Who‘s taking in the Big Apple. BBC America and the BBC Worldwide announced that for the first time, the sci-fi series will hit the road to introduce Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor. On-screen companion Jenna Coleman is along for the ride, visiting seven cities across five continents in 12 days for a series of media events. The tour launches in the UK on August 7 and finishes in Brazil on August 19. Their date with New York: Thursday, August 14.

ISA, the first original movie from Fluency Productions, NBCUniversal Hispanic Enterprises and Content‘s new multi-format, multi-platform production studio, will be shown in English across NBCUniversal television channels including Syfy on Wednesday, June 11 at 11:30p; Chiller on Tuesday, June 17 at 8p and mun2 on Friday, June 27 at 7p. In addition, the film will air on Telemundo later this summer.

ABC Family renewed Pretty Little Liars for seasons six and seven. The mystery drama is the net’s top series ever in total viewers (3.8 million) and key demos including A18-34 (1.5 million/2.2 rating) and P12-34 (2.6 million/2.8 rating), and is the most tweeted scripted series ever.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Smokehouse Pictures, headed by George Clooney and partner Grant Heslov, struck a two-year deal to develop and produce series for all platforms for Sony Pictures Television.

Spike TV is developing a script with Electus for an original series, The Chairman, based on the best-selling suspense thriller by Stephen Frey.

Electus sold scripted series Iron Belly to BBC America and HBO Canada. The drama takes place on a 19th century ship making a brutal journey from Ireland to Australia.

Animal Planet jumps into World Cup mania with "World Pup," an online bracket competition. Voting starts Wednesday, June 12; winner is announced Thursday, July 10.

A+E Networks will roll out international co-production The World Wars globally July through November on History. Additionally, co-production partners N24 and France Television will air the show this summer and fall in Germany and France. "Amid an influx of World War programming tied to the 100th anniversary, we feel that the premise and production values of The World Wars will set it apart," said Sally Habbershaw, VP of international programming, production & operations. "Our series uniquely positions WWI and WWII as one devastating event, not two, a perspective that has not been taken previously in television."

Lifetime docu-series BAPs (Black American Princesses and Princes) premieres Wednesday, July 23 at 10p. The Asylum Entertainment production focuses on a lively St. Louis social circle.

Austin, Texas will be home to the production and corporate headquarters of El Rey Network. Blossom, starring Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang Theory) and Joey Lawrence (Melissa & Joey), makes its first appearance on cable beginning Monday, July 7. The 90s sitcom will air weekdays at 10p and 10:30p on Hub Network.

Starz released the official teaser for original series Survivor’s Remorse, the comedy from basketball star LeBron James. Show premieres in fall 2014.

Season two of Destination America‘s Mountain Monsters continues Friday, June 13 at 10p with the Appalachian Investigators of Mysterious Sightings armed with infrared cameras and a super-sized snare trap to hunt down a murderous creature covered in a black exoskeleton.

Add Kerry Washington (Scandal) and pop star Robin Thicke to the stars lighting up the 2014 BET Awards. Thick will perform a new single; Chris Rock will host on Tuesday, July 1 at 8p.

DISTRIBUTION & CARRIAGE

Newsmax Media reached a distribution agreement with DISH Network, expanding the reach of the upcoming conservative-leaning news net to 35 million satellite homes and businesses. Soft launch is Monday, June 16.

Female-centric Escape and male-centric Grit, part of Katz Broadcasting, acquired the television rights to 135 demo-targeted motion pictures in a multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

In case you missed it: Watch the full and complete presentation of yesterday’s Cynopsis webinar, How to Better Reach Young Hispanics, On Demand ("If today’s Hispanic Millennial feels pigeonholed as a consumer, they will flee that market," warned one expert). Go here for more info.
