TECH TALK

Tech giants are in the crosshairs of House lawmakers, who introduced sweeping bipartisan legislation aimed at restraining their power. “Right now, unregulated tech monopolies have too much power over our economy. They are in a unique position to pick winners and losers, destroy small businesses, raise prices on consumers and put folks out of work,” said Representative David Cicilline, Democrat of Rhode Island and chairman of the antitrust subcommittee. “Our agenda will level the playing field and ensure the wealthiest, most powerful tech monopolies play by the same rules as the rest of us.” The five bills, if passed, would prohibit the acquisition of competitive threats; end platform monopolies; prohibit discriminatory conduct by dominant platforms; update filing fees for mergers, to ensure the DOJ and FTC have the resources to enforce antitrust laws; and promote competition online by lowering barriers to entry.

Premion has expanded its partnership with IHS Markit to leverage Polk Automotive Solutions to bolster audience targeting and sales lift measurement for CTV and OTT campaigns for automotive advertisers. “Automotive marketers have been among early adopters of streaming TV advertising, which has quickly evolved as a priority customer acquisition and performance marketing channel,” said Dave Marquard, Head of Product at Premion. “With Polk Automotive Solutions, we’re accelerating the power of streaming TV advertising to empower our advertisers to reach high-value audiences and measure true sales performance by matching OTT viewership with verified vehicle sales.”
