FX is developing a political drama inspired by the career of retired U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, reports Deadline. Run comes from Boxer and her daughter, Andrew Lenchewski (Royal Pains), and PatMa Productions.
Mick Betancourt (Shots Fired) will serve as co-showrunner and EP of Syfy’s Deadly Class, slated for summer 2019. He joins Rick Remender, writer of the graphic novel on which the show is based, and Miles Orion Feldscott.

Season two of Floribama Shore launches on MTV Tuesday, June 19 at 10p. The reality show was the number one original cable series and the number two new original unscripted cable series in 2017, per Nielsen Live+SD P18-34 data.
New seasons of true crime series set to debut on ID next month include Fear Thy Neighbor (Saturday, June 2 at 10p), Scene of the Crime with Tony Harris (Sunday, June 3 at 10p), The Real Story with Maria Elena Salinas (Monday, June 4 at 10p), and Murder Comes to Town (Tuesday, June 5 at 9p). Newcomers joining the lineup are People Magazine Investigates: Cults, offering untold stories of cult leaders starting Monday, June 4 at 9p, and Wonderland Murders, focused on Portland homicide investigators, debuting on Tuesday, June 5 at 10p.

Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation had barely taken effect when Austria-based nonprofit None Of Your Business filed complaints against Facebook, Google, Instagram and WhatsApp. NOYB accused the companies of using pop-up “consent boxes” tied to access of the services. They also aim to stop “annoying and obtrusive pop-ups which are used to claim a user’s consent.”
U.S.-based companies are hustling to get data consent from users even though the GDRP privacy rules only affect Europeans, to avoid inadvertently violating the rights of EU citizens in this country. But according to a survey by Research Intelligencer and Pollfish, only 30.4% of respondents agreed to the requests immediately.

Amsterdam-based Rooftop Immersive Studio inked a deal with AMC Networks International Southern Europe to aggregate and distribute VR content, a first step toward consolidating a partnership between the two companies. Rooftop Immersive Studio will aggregate VR content on a monthly basis from a variety of genres with a focus on documentaries and factual VR experiences for the brand Odisea / Odisseia.
COMING UP
Seasons 1-5 of The Mindy Project launch on Fuse Friday, June 1, with a “Mindy’s Allstars” marathon from 5p-11p. Season 6 of the series comes to linear TV for the first time with its Fuse premiere on Wednesday, September 12. The comedy ran on Fox for its first three season, moving to Hulu for seasons 4-6.
The Paley Center for Media is presenting “An Evening with Dear White People” on June 5 at 7p in Beverly Hills. Cast and creator will take part in a panel discussion.
CASTING
Alyson Hannigan (How I Met Your Mother), Connie Ray (The Big C), Todd Stashwick (12 Monkeys), Taylor Ortega (JonTron), Ciara Wilson (OMG!) and Erika Tham (Make it Pop) have joined the cast of the live-action Kim Possible, a Disney Channel original movie. Comedy-adventure is set to debut in 2019.
