IN THE NEWS

Just days after Fox’s Upfront presentation, the net made a change to its fall schedule. Baseball-themed Pitch, which was to launch in the spring, stole the fall Thursday-at-9p timeslot once reserved for the final season of Bones. (Synergy alert: Fox starts airing Major League Baseball’s Fall Classic starting October 25.) Moved to Thursdays at 9p in January, Bones displaces reboot Prison Break, which slides into Pitch’s original Tuesdays-in-spring spot.

Michael Lombardo is leaving as president of programming for HBO, where he’s worked for 33 years, nine in his current position. It’s not the first high level departure this year – EVP of drama development Michael Ellenberg left in January.

The upcoming Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls has a title: Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Cast member Lauren Graham made the announcement on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Each episode of the four-part miniseries will take place during a different season in one year.

Grey’s Anatomy cast member Sara Ramirez is leaving the ABC drama after 10 seasons. Ramirez, who joined the final episode of season two, said she was “taking some welcome time off.” In the season finale, Ramirez’s character, Callie, left for New York City to be with her daughter. “Dr. Callie Torres came into our lives dancing it out in her underwear almost a decade ago, and I could not be happier or more proud of her journey,” said Shonda Rimes. “I will miss Callie tremendously, but I am excited for what the future holds for Sara. She will always have a home at Shondaland.”

A&E canceled Damien after one low-rated season. The drama followed the character from The Omen horror movie franchise. “I really loved making #Damien. We all did,” tweeted showrunner Glen Mazzara on Friday. “We just never got the numbers there.”

Jon Stewart, among the honorees at the 75th Peabody Awards on Saturday night, said he and his wife were celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary. “Every year on our anniversary, I try to get her a prestigious award and every year I fail,” Stewart said. “This is the first year it’s worked out. Usually I just write on a piece of paper, ‘Nobel prize for having married out of your religion.’” For more on the ceremony, go here: http://www.peabodyawards.com/stories. An edited version will air on Pivot Monday, June 6 at 8p.

ABC late night host Jimmy Kimmel plays host to both Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders this week. Trump takes his chair on Wednesday, while Sanders drops in on Thursday.

The Paley Center for Media announced its Hollywood Tribute to Hispanic Achievements in Television will take place Monday, October 24 at the Beverly Wilshire. The event will celebrate seven decades of pioneers in drama, telenovelas, comedy, news, talk, reality, sports and music.

ADVERTISING AND BRANDS

Out-of-home advertising is on the rise. According to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, OOH ad revenues rose 3.3 percent in 1Q16, to $1.64 billion, versus last year. One reason for the boost: mobile devices, which allow consumers to interact with billboards, letting advertisers target and measure audience response to ads. (For more on OOH, check out tomorrow’s Cynopsis webinar, The New Out-of-Home Marketing: How to Drive Tune-In and Brand Awareness. Details are here.)
