To be generous, or not to be generous? That’s the question on upcoming CBS reality show The Briefcase, which asks families in need to decide whether or not to share a $101,000 windfall with another family in challenging circumstances. The show from 25/7 Productions is “an emotional roller coaster ride with a shocking ending each week,” promises creator and exec producer Dave Broome (The Biggest Loser). Premiere date: Wednesday, May 27 at 8p.
Primetime C3 ratings for 1Q15 were down about 10 percent versus last year, according to a report from Sanford C. Bernstein. And analyst Todd Juenger warned that stuffing more advertising into programming to produce near-term ad revenue “risks further pushing away viewers and reducing advertiser ROI.” But the report notes that while some networks’ ad loads increased by over 5 percent, Fox, Time Warner, Discovery and Scripps Networks Interactive actually had decreased ad loads versus year-ago.

Eighty percent of Millennials are likely to watch a TV show if they’ve watched a promo shared with them online, according to a new study from video ad tech company Unruly, versus 66 percent of average TV viewers. But the demo is 10 percent less likely to share TV promo content than the average viewer, possibly because TV marketers aren’t creating content that resonates with Millennials. “We may be in a Golden Age of television content, but the way TV networks are currently promoting their shows to new viewers is missing the mark on digital and social media,” asserts Scott Button, CEO of Unruly. “Audience fragmentation, ad avoidance and social discovery are all powerful forces for disruption.” Access the full report here.

THE FUN CONTINUES with an ALL NEW EPISODE TOMORROW 10/9C.
Upfront planning made easy. Courtesy of truTV
The New truTV: All New Line-Up. WAY MORE FUN. source.
Last week when we asked the question, "What’s the newest or most overused phrase you’ve heard in meetings lately?” We didn’t realize that this would turn into a two part question. So we ended up with double the responses for double the fun. Take a look…
Newest…
- “Comers" because that’s what they call their audiencecomers.” Tom Ascheim, President, ABC Family
- “Brand cuffs. When clients and their agencies give you too many constraints.” Jamie Weissenborn, CRO, Machinima
- “Mosovid: Mobile social video. I just made that up and I hope it catches on.” Jesse Redniss, CEO, BRaVE Ventures.
Overused…
- “We want meaningful integration rather than simple product placement.” Or “We want NBDB” or “We want to own the XXXX category” Freddy James, SVP, Strategic Planning and Programming Integration, HGTV
- “Hyper” as an adjective, like “hyper-targeted.” A more appropriate term is “effectively.” Michael Eastwood, Senior Digital Planner at MEC
- “Television is dying.” Shannon Driver, SVP Marketing & Creative Services, Scripps Networks Interactive
- “A long, drawn-out "So…" at the beginning of a sentence.” Rob Friedman, SVP, Programming & Scheduling, SundanceTV.
Want to join the fun and see how you stack up against our readers? Then tell us… "What TV character would you like to play and why?” Please send your responses to FOYB.Cynopsis@gmail.com
