SAG-AFTRA launched a platform that enables members and third-party witnesses to report incidents of sexual harassment in the workplace. The digital SAG-AFTRA Safe Place also will allow the union, which yesterday unveiled new standards for the training, registration and continuing education of intimacy coordinators who oversee sex scenes in films and TV shows, to track repeat offenders.

Byron Allen’s Allen Media Broadcasting purchased seven TV stations from Gray Television for $380 million in cash, part of a divestiture related to Gray’s purchase earlier this year of Quincy Media. The purchase expands to 23 Allen Media’s portfolio of ABC-NBC-CBS-Fox network affiliate broadcast stations across the country.
Caitlyn Jenner will give her first interview since announcing her run for California Governor to Fox News’ Sean Hannity. The segment is slated to air Wednesday, May 5.

Marginal MediaWorks is moving into scripted series with “Hummingbird,” a LatinX episodic series that was snapped up by Amazon Studios. Series is loosely inspired by the life of Emmy-winning documentarian Rudy Valdez, who directs, and follows members of a Mexican American family living in the Midwest who are haunted by sinister forces, while searching for the American dream.
Also at Amazon, Amazon Studios renewed Robert Kirkman (“The Walking Dead”) adult animated series “Invincible” for an additional two, and final, seasons. The series’ season 1 finale airs on Prime today (April 30.)

Krysten Ritter is set to direct the first four episodes of an adaptation of Crypt TV’s “Girl In The Woods” for Peacock. The streamer ordered an eight-episode series based on Crypt TV’s “The Door In The Woods” and its sequel, which were fodder for the feature film starring Kal Penn and Peyton List. Set in the Pacific Northwest, “Girl In The Woods” follows a young woman’s escape from her cult-like colony.
HBO Max is going big on productions in Latin America. The streamer will develop more than 100 local productions in Latin America during the next two years, 33 of which are already in production. All of these productions—including action comedy “Bunker,” romance drama “Amarres” and youth musical drama “Dias De Gallos”—will be exclusive to the HBO Max platform under the Max Originals brand.
Team Whistle is producing “Making (Her)Story,” a docuseries in partnership with Insight TV that follows up-and-coming female athletes as they overcome stereotypes and other tribulations as they compete in male-dominated sports. Slated to premiere on Insight TV in 2022, each ep follows three female athletes aged 18-25 throughout their sporting season. British jockey Hollie Doyle and race car driver Emily Linscott are among featured athletes. Melanie Capacia Johnson, head of studio at Whistle Studios, is exec-producing.
UPFRONTS
Roku will present its virtual Upfront on Monday, May 3. Cynopsis got an early briefing of the presentation, which will lean into the catch phrase “TV Starts Here,” positioning Roku as the access point for consumers to start their TV journey, not only their streaming journey. As of 2020, Roku reaches an households with an estimated 148 million streamers, a number that represents 34 percent more people than watched the Super Bowl this year.
Among new products being touted are OneView, Roku’s ad-buying platform created from its strategic alliance with Nielsen that will provide Nielsen reach & frequency reporting by age and gender across all four screens—linear TV, TV streaming, desktop and mobile. The newly branded Roku Originals will be center stage. Under that umbrella is Quibi content, the “This Old House” brand library purchased in May, a new advertising content studio poised to produce new creative ad formats and programming tailored for marketers looking to go beyond the traditional 30-second ad unit. Next up is a celebrity-hosted talk show sponsored by a spirits brand, already in preproduction.
Brands and agencies are chiming in early as well. “We are really interested in testing their Roku IDs, first party registration data,” says Monica Capelan, VP of sales planning, at Horizon Media. “For the upcoming Upfronts clients are interested in shifting their direct IO CTV buys to programmatic for an and audience first approach and Roku/OneView has been a great partner helping us educate the benefits of programmatic.”

Showtime dropped a new trailer for its “Dexter” revival, slated to debut this fall and starring Michael C. Hall who, based on teaser, will be returning to his favorite pastime as everyone’s favorite serial killer. Series originally ran on the network for eight seasons, 2006-13. Clyde Davis will return as showrunner for the 10-ep limited series revival.
Rakuten Viki, the streaming service for Asian content, is adding two exclusive series inspired by popular Webtoon comics. “So I Married an Anti-Fan” debuts Friday April 30 and stars Choi Sooyoung (“New Year Blues”) and Choi Tae Joon (“The Undateables”), and “Imitation,” starring Jeong Ji So (“Parasite”) and Lee Jun Young (“Mr. Temporary”) drops Friday, May 7.
The Weather Channel follows some of the world’s best marine construction firms as they battle the elements in “Deep Water Salvage,” which debuts Sunday, May 2 at 10p. Tensions are high as extreme weather finds the crews risking almost anything to recover priceless artifacts and service abandoned ships.
Outdoor Channel’s “Country Outdoors Live” returns for a third season Monday, May 3 at 8p with country rocker Tim Montana. Other artists on deck this season, hosted by Nick Offerman and Mary O’Neill Phillips, include Travis Denning, Drake White and Locash.
Premiering Thursday, May 6 at 8p on Discovery, the new season of “Homestead Rescue: Raney Ranch” returns with the Raneys, who use a combination of willpower and ingenuity to realize their dream of a multigenerational homestead in the Alaskan wilderness. This season they race against time and elements as the brutal Alaskan winter approaches.
Disney Channel’s out-of-this-world live-action comedy series “Gabby Duran & the Unsittables” returns for a second season Friday, June 4 at 8:50p. The teenage girl who inadvertently lands a job babysitting an unruly group of VIP extraterrestrial children disguised as everyday kids is back to face even bigger challenges.
“Dynasty” is headed back to The CW. Season 4 of the drama premieres Friday, May 7 at 9p.
A new series celebrating music stars and their most unforgettable moments on MTV will bow Saturday, May 22 in the States after debuting globally May 21. “My Life on MTV” is packed with archival footage of artists including Miley Cyrus, Sean “Diddy” Combs, One Direction, Alicia Keys, Green Day, Katy Perry, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, U2 and Lady Gaga.
Netflix released the first trailer for the final season of “Castlevania,” which arrives on the streamer Tuesday, May 13. The adult animated series follows a monster hunter who saves the besieged region of Wallachia from an army of supernatural creatures controlled by Count Dracula.
The streamer also unveiled the trailer for the third and final run of “The Kominsky Method,” which will be a Norman Newlander-less season when it arrives May 28. Sandy Kominsky and other close friends of the Alan Arkin character are shown at Newlander’s funeral, though no other details about his death are revealed. Guest stars Morgan Freeman and Barry Levinson are seen in the trailer.
And also from Netflix is a first trailer for drama series “Sweet Tooth,” an adaptation based on characters created for DC Vertigo that bows June 4. From Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey’s Team Downey, Jim Mickle, “Arrow” showrunner Beth Schwartz and Warner Bros. TV, series follows the adventures of a creature who’s part deer, part boy, who joins a ragtag group of humans and animal-children hybrids to find out why cataclysmic event has ravaged the earth.
Contractor and real estate expert Scott McGillivray returns to HGTV for season 2 of “Vacation House Rules” Saturday, June 5 at 8p. McGillivray continues to teach families how to take their vacation property and unlock its full rental potential—this season focusing on transformations of a gloomy cottage, lakeside cabin and abandoned art studio.

Doc feature “Long Live Rock… Celebrate The Chaos” will premiere exclusively Saturday, May 1 on the Coda Collection on Amazon Prime Video. From exec producer Neil Patrick Harris, HBO’s “Revolution Rent,” which follows co-director by Andy Senor Jr. to Cuba, where he is tasked with directing a stage production of the musical “Rent,” is headed to HBO and HBO Max on Tuesday, June 15 at 9p in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the iconic musical’s Broadway premiere.
PBS will air “Sergio Mendes & Friends: A Celebration,” a doc about the acclaimed Brazilian musician, in June. Rooted in the feature documentary “Sergio Mendes: In The Key Of Joy” from filmmaker John Scheinfeld, the new film features Mendes and a bevy of friends and collaborators including Herb Alpert, Common, Quincy Jones, John Legend and will.i.am.

Vizio and Verizon Media entered a partnership to deliver new cross-platform and connected TV advertising solutions, anchored in unique TV viewership data and premium programmatic inventory access. Through the deal, Verizon Media gains demand-side platform (DSP) access to Vizio’s Inscape viewership data from more than 18 million opted-in Vizio Smart TVs.
Crackle Plus and information and insights company TransUnion announced an agreement aimed at enabling improved ad targeting of Crackle’s audience. Crackle Plus will use TransUnion’s identity and audience solutions to better serve more relevant advertising to its audiences and provide a higher value to agency and brand partners. TransUnion’s identity graph covers 98 percent of US adults.

Hit pop music group The Chainsmokers, aka Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, are launching a singing competition, “Breakthrough,” on Amazon-owned Audible.
