ID has a new logo and a new tagline, “Don’t just watch. Witness.” The refresh was introduced on-air and online on Sunday, and aims to engage viewers familiar with the network, as well as attracting new true crime fans. ID is also shaking up its primetime strategy with an “ID Primetime Starts Now” video intro at 8p, and “An ID Original” intro card for every original series episode.

Total TV usage slipped 2% the week of March 30, according to Nielsen, but was up 26% from the first full week of March, before stay-at-home orders took place. Streaming minutes were down to 161.4 minutes from 168.7 the week before, but up from the 127.6 clocked for the first week of March.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is upending the upfront buying season, with production on shows shut down and companies that advertise taking financial hits from the health crisis. How might this affect timing of ad buys? “Those with a view into the upfront expect volume to be more in the 40% to 60% range of total inventory, versus more typical portions sold in the upfront, likely closer to 70% to 80% normally,” said BMO analyst Daniel Salmon in a note to investors. With in-person events canceled and plans for digital presentations yet to be firmed up, at least some networks are focusing instead on individual virtual outreach. Virtual NewFronts have been moved from April to June 22-26.

NBCUniversal’s “Stay-In Theater” Family Movie Nights” debuted Friday, with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets airing across USA, Syfy, and E!. The film aired with limited commercial interruption, and launch partner Target. Telemundo aired Kung Fu Panda 2 on Saturday. The next two Fridays will also feature Potter movies on the cable nets, and Saturday movies on Telemundo. “Families around the world are staying at home to stay safe and stop the spread. NBCUniversal is committed to providing the content and viewing experiences that will create special family bonding moments,” said Josh Feldman, EVP, Head of Marketing & Creative Advertising, NBCU.

Pay-per-view fighting event UFC 249 is down for the count, at least for now. UFC President Dana White had insisted the April 18 event would go on despite the COVID-19 pandemic, moving it from Barclays Center in Brooklyn to tribal lands in California. But execs “at the highest level you can go at Disney, and they highest level at ESPN” convinced him to postpone. “We’ll be the first ones back,” he said in an interview on ESPN. “We’ll get this thing squared away, get a date from ESPN, and we’ll be back first.”

Apple and Google are teaming on a platform to enable contact tracing to identify people who have been exposed to the coronavirus. After releasing interfaces next month built on existing public health apps that can work on iOS or Android systems, the companies will focus on a more comprehensive platform to which users will be able to opt in. “Privacy, transparency, and consent are of utmost importance in this effort,” the companies stated. “We will openly publish information about our work for others to analyze.”

The Friends reunion special that was slated to debut with streaming service HBO Max in May has been postponed due to the COVID-19 production shutdown. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer were supposed to film the show March 23-24. “The cast and producers are all very excited to go into production, as this will be the first time since the show ended that the whole cast will be together, and on the original sets to reminisce,” said HBO Max on Friday. “There are loads of great surprises in store and lots of rare behind-the-scenes footage they are eager to share….though fans will have to wait a bit longer for the reunion, they can watch all 236 episodes of the series on day one of HBO Max launch in May!” The streamer also clarified that the cast will be appearing as themselves, not their Friends characters.

Facebook has added Quiet Mode, “to help you focus on your family and friends, sleep without distraction or manage how you spend your time at home,” explained the company in a blog post. Facebook also added shortcuts to Notification Settings and News Feed Preferences to control the types of posts in users’ News Feeds.

Vice President Mike Pence’s office is now allowing top health officials to appear on CNN. The news net had been allowed access to the officials earlier because it hasn’t carried the White House Coronavirus Task Force briefings in their entirety.

Telemundo is expanding its daytime programming to at least 12 hours of live news coverage and entertainment news, Monday to Friday, starting today. As part of this initiative, Un Nuevo Dia extends its weekday live broadcast for an additional half-hour, to offer viewers four-and-half hours of information and updates from 7at-11:30a. “We are living through an unprecedented moment in our lives, and we want our audience to know we remain committed to providing them, throughout the entire day, the information they need to navigate these difficult times,” said Ronald Day, EVP of Entertainment for Telemundo.

MGM was ordered to surrender tapes of unaired video footage from at least two episodes of The Celebrity Apprentice to plaintiffs who filed a class action complaint in October 2018 over an alleged marketing scam involving Donald Trump, The Trump Corporation, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump. The four people who filed the complaint claim the Trumps persuaded people to become independent business owners for ACN Opportunity, and promoted it on episodes of the NBC reality show, without disclosing that their endorsements were paid.

TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days series broke audience records on Sunday, April 5, ranking as the #1 program in all of television with W18-34 and #2 with W25-54/18-49 and was the #1 cable program on the night among all women demos.
